Njers are we getting rebates or not this year???

I am confused. Are we getting the homestead rebates this year or not? I know that they had suspended then reinstated then I don't know what.
I have not gotten my paperwork and usually I have it by now.
Anyone get one or are we out of luck this year?

Hey fellow New Jerseyan

I got my Homestead application 2 days ago.

I looked online and it appears that for a married couple I think, your combined income has to be $75,000 or less......

You get 13.34% of your taxes based on yar 2006...not sure why that year

I am drawing a blank right now, but think if your income is below $50,000 a year, you get 20% of your 2006 taxes


Either way, it appears that we are getting something

That was the original plan, but not anymore

Inside the application it said in the 2nd paragraph:

"We've also made it a top priority to preserve property tax relief to the greatest extent possible in these dire circumstances, including property tax rebates for seniors, the disabled and a MAJORITY OF OTHER HOMEOWNERS So I am pleased to send you the enclosed application for this year Homestead Rebate program."

So while not all homeowners will get this rebate, those that fall within a certain income will

Thanks! I think our taxes were over $16,000 that year so I'm off to do the math.

Ridiculously we need the rebate to pay our property taxes (dh got a pay cut this year and knowing we'll be getting some $$ helps) I'll be watching the mailbox!

Since DH makes over $75,000, we don't qualify? That stinks, since we pay $11,000 in taxes for our small home.
