Hey Pete, Kevin, John, Julie, and Corey...
I was listening to the e-mail show today, and found your argument on NJ toll roads to be hilarious. Being an avid traveler to Disney, I do notice the pricing of those tolls as being completely outrageous! Anyway, being a NJ shore native what we currently pay is .70 cents on the parkway. These toll roads are scattered around high density or high traffic areas ie. Exit 98, the driscoll bridge, and a few other locations. The .70 cent toll is paid going one way, meaning you do not have to pay on the return for that toll... but you may have to pay at a different location pending on how the tolls are spread out. But the catch is, going further south on the parkway the rates do go back to the traditional .35 cents each way as congestion in these areas is seasonal and one way tolls are not needed. But, what is becoming more and more expensive up here is the turnpike. Currently, from the Lincoln tunnel to exit 7A (Shore Points) it is a whopping 3.15 (ouch!). But, many of our other popular roads ie. route 287, route 18, and route 78 are still toll free for now I hope. Anyway, just putting up this thread to let you guys know exactly how much things are. Hope this was helpful and please keep up the great work with the podcast.
P.S. Pete... Vic's pizza in Bradley Beach is still open and it is by far the best pizza in NJ. A summer hit for all around the shore.
Thanks again, Anthony from Colts Neck, NJ

When I have worked in NJ - I loved that they pumped my gas. It's the best :thumbsup2

They pump your gas and it's cheaper than the gas, I have pump myself, in PA!
I paid about $4 a gallon in PA and saw it was in the $3.80's across the border Memorial day weekend.

I don't even realize the prices of the tolls due to EZ pass! :thumbsup2

You guys are totally right... I love having someone pump my own gas, the only thing is when I go down to WDW... I sit waiting for someone to come up and ask how much gas I plan on purchasing, and then I wake up to reality that I have to pump it myself.

I still have never pumped my own gas! I live so close now though, I want my husband to show me how to do it so I don't look like a total idiot. My daughter lives in PA - I shop in PA - I mean, one of these days, it's gonna happen - I am going to have to pump my own gas ):

My father-in-law lives in East Rutherford, they just opened a Dunkin Donuts/gas station nearby - cheapest gas I've seen ANYWHERE lately!! 3.71!!:thumbsup2

I live near a couple of towns with free bridges to PA too! Get to skip out on those tolls:banana:

I've shared this story before.

I am a born and raised Jersey girl. The one thing my Father did teach me was how to pump gas. He owned a station so when I needed gas, I pumped it myself. A few years back I was on a buisness trip with a young female co-worker. This was her first experience travelling for work. I was not sure if we were going in the right direction so I pulled into a gas station. I ask her to fill the car up while I go inside to check on directions. I go in and come back out a few minutes later to see her standing there with the nozzle in her hand looking very confused. I bust out laughing. Yup, she was a Jersey girl who never pumped gas before. So we had a basic gas pumping lesson somewhere in the middle of Iowa.

I have to say that I have only pumped gas once and that was when I was like 10 for my dads car. Now since I have been driving I have never had to pump my own gas. Sure will be interesting when I finally have to do it. But after watching people pump my gas for me I think I could figure it out. I know on the military base my mom has to pump her own gas. Guess it is legal for the military to pump their own gas on the base.
