Hudson County here. Thankfully I am at the highest point in town but I live on a peninsula. 1-1/2 blocks from Newark Bay. Again, thankfully on a hill. Bought 7 cases of water, batteries, bread, got the car filled up, baby wipes for personal hygiene in the event we can't shower (if the basement floods)...cleaned the house, did laundry so we have clean clothes. Charged up my kindle and ipod. And don't forget, you can always charge your phones in the car if need be.

Monmouth County here. My oldest already has off college Monday and Tuesday. My younger daughter goes to High school out on a peninsula that is being evacuated of anyone living there, so although not official I can't see them being open. Nothing yet on the local schools that the little guy goes to. Stay safe everyone.

ALso Monmouth county here. Dh's is now closed for Monday and Tuesday. He is in Ocean Twp. I teach in Middletown and we haven't closed but Brookdale has cancelled for Monday and Tuesday

middlesex here.

i have enough food and water for me and the puppy. i can survive without electricity if i have to and my parents are in the next town over if things get bad here and vice versa for them.

luckily, i'm on the high side of town. a couple of blocks over floods during every storm. my friend lives just over the river and the water was almost up to their door during irene.

Ocean County here...all barrier islands will be evacuated tomorrow and AC will be closed tomorrow at 4 is what i heard on the radio today. No evacuations here for us yet....I work in a supermarket and it was like Christmas Eve in there today!!! Hope it's a lot of hype!!!! But it's looking serious!!

It's been 60 years since the storm of '62 that was so horrible--please, no repeats of such storms. Praying for my family and friends (DISers) up North!

Burlington Co. here.

They are expecting this to be MUCH worse than the storm of '62 and I remember the aftermath of that storm, so this is not going to be good at all.

Mandatory evacuations as of 4PM tomorrow along the entire NJ coastline.

Mom & Dad live on LBI and will be coming here tomorrow for the duration. I hope that there is something for them to go home to, even if we have to spend weeks cleaning up the mess.

Ironically, last weekend we were at their house, putting all the outdoor furniture away for the winter. Today we put all our outdoor furniture away.

Hopefully, everyone will see limited damage.

Brick here, and I also work for a supermarket company (hmm, wonder if it's the same one, although I work in the office). I am going to try and get out first thing tomorrow morning. We already have 5 gallons of water, a couple of bags of ice (2 huge coolers), batteries (flashlights and radio) and propane for the grill. We just found out school is closed Monday and Tuesday.
When I heard they are draining the lakes in Lake Como and Spring Lake, that defintely ups the worry factor as well.
When the Asbury Park Press says "authorities say Monmouth and Ocean counties will be hit the worst," I am a little bit !
We are definitely getting prepared for the worst and hoping for the best.

FRHSD schools are closed. DD16 is most happy. DS's schools will make a decision by 6 tomorrow night.

We are all set (monmouth county). We moved all the furniture from the pool up to the deck, put away all the lose items. CLeaned the garage so we could get the cars in, and set up the generator on the deck. DH and DS just cleaned up the leaves from in from of the house (street/curb), and he just needs to get some more gas. He used what was in the gas can and that filled the generator 1/2 way. So we are just about there.

If we lose power and can keep our sump pump going we are good. Irene destroyed our basement last year because of no power for a few hours...not this time!!

Atlantic County checking in. We're as ready as we'll ever be. Laundry done, cars have full tanks, stocked up on water, ice, and canned goods, generator and gas grill ready to go. Several schools are reporting closures for Monday and Tuesday.

My husband had a hard time finding D batteries also. He finally found them at Staples.

DD has a bio lab, but she has a female teacher. Yes, Middletown, and Monmouth County Vocational are both closed Monday and Tuesday. I was kind of surprised that Middletown has a voluntary evacuation order.

Try an automotive store. I managed to find D batteries in R&S Strauss last year. They said no one had been in looking for them.

Port Republic reporting in. I have 10 acres of woods. Just praying that none of the trees come down on the house, car or pool. I went to the grocery store this morning to get just a couple of items and it was a madhouse by 7:30. I got water and some fruit and the Super Walmart yesterday. Lucky I did because the grocery store was all out of water this morning.

I hope that this won't be as bad as they think. At least I am inland a bit so maybe the winds won't be that bad.
