I'm more mad at DeSantis, who refuses to make a statewide mask mandate, giving credence to the idea that masks aren't effective and won't help. Cases continue to rise, and there's absolutely no plan to combat it. Meanwhile, fatalities in Japan (habitual mask wearers) are low despite more congested living cities and their senior population.

Not to mention, the employer would probably contest unemployment claim. NJ is an at will state as @Maistre Gracey said. In NJ, the employer can not fire the employee for needing to be quarantined (which is a rarity in state law), but neither must they pay you.

There are several articles on the topic which can be found by a quick google search if @NYDisneyKid wishes to educate themselves on the topic.

I know this is the definition of first world problems, but I’m devastated that I have the points, the annual passes, and the vacation time, but bc the governor of Florida has no common sense we still can’t get in without quarantining for 14 days.

I’d probably be less upset if Texas, Cali, etc were added to the list, but it’s just US while people from far more infected states have a blast.

just had to vent. I know life’s not fair, but this is so frustrating and for no reason.

How would anyone know whether you self quarantined and how long you self quarantined? Is there a form that gets filed? If so, by who? Not trying to be devious or circumventive, just curious.

In addition, even if unemployment is approved, will it come close to matching their salary?

depends on what the person makes of course. I think the person you are talking about works in New Jersey. The maximum you can get from New Jersey unemployment is 713 a week. After taxes is taken out I get 642 a week. New Jersey you get 60 percent of your pay up to the maximum. It’s not what you are making now but it’s what you made in the past last year or so. We had a few weeks off where I work things were slow. Not getting overtime now so a week of unemployment will be about the same as I worked for bring home pay. Of course some things will hurt you in the future. Your not putting into your social security or your 401 k during that week. If I’m off next year and have to reopen I know I won’t get the maximum. As I don’t make that much and lack of overtime and being off a few weeks from unemployment.

I wouldn’t file for unemployment unless I talk to my employer and they said it was ok.

When Governors are "tit-for-tating" AND recommending that resident snitch on each other, we're all in Big Trouble

Ok Lost facts along the way...
So Florida quarantine was supposed to expire 7/9?
And was it extended?
Thanks
Kerri

I live in SW Florida and check the stats daily. I keep seeing the number of non-Florida residents testing positive in our county go up nearly every day. Don't know if they brought it with them or they got it while they were here for a longer period of time. Come season, those numbers may skyrocket.
