DH – 54 – loves to take vacations – just tell him when and where and he’s game!
DW – 49 – me – compulsive planner and Disboard lurker
DD1 – 25 – DH’s daughter – my step-daughter and one terrific lady (soon to be a bride)
DD2 – 10 – First and foremost a Princess in her own right.

As a bit of background, this will be my 3rd trip to WDW, DH’s 3rd trip, DD1 her 2nd trip with us and DD2 also her 2nd trip. In 1998 we took both girls but stayed off-site. We never knew about or attended a character meal, never stayed in the parks after dinner (because we would see them commando style and leave exhausted) and have never seen a parade at night.

DD1 is getting married in September, and while we do love her future husband, DH wanted one last vacation with his “girls”. Because of all the wedding plans, we didn’t want DD2 to feel slighted so what better place to take a vacation than WDW!

Having made the decision, the planning went into motion in January. Looking at the school calendar and adding a little time in case of snow days, we decided to leave on June 25 (school was to have gotten out on June 16th). Of course there were a few snow days this past winter so DD2’ last day of school was June 23rd – that gave her one day to pack her backpack (her suitcase we did together, but she always packs her own backpack prior to vacation) with things to keep her amused during the trip.

Ah, the last day before vacation and the day moves so slowly. I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and couldn’t go back to sleep. I got up and did some laundry (not that much do to as it seems that everything we own has been packed), paid the bills and got ready for work. DH and DD2 were still asleep when I left home at 7:00 a.m. The night before I asked DH to make sure he and DD2 went out and had something to eat because there was not much food left at the house and I didn’t feel like stopping for something on my way home – not knowing for sure when I may get out of work. Although the morning went by very quickly, the afternoon dragged and I was quite ready to leave work at 3:30 p.m. – however I couldn’t and had to stay until at least 5:00 p.m.

Once I got home, we were all busy with last minute things. Luckily we had friends coming to house and animal sit while we were gone. Around 8:30 p.m., DD1 and future SIL arrive (future SIL is dropping DD1 off so we can all leave for the airport together the next morning). Everyone is in bed by 10:00 p.m. – although it takes quite a while to get to sleep………..anticipating WDW the next day.
