Just rented what Dollar categorizes as a full-size vehicle (Nissan Altima). Feels much more like a mid-size. We can barely fit 4 mid sized suitcases in trunk. Traveling with total of 4 adults. Extra suitcases have to be sandwiched in between both back seat passengers. Car just does not feel any roomier than a mid size---like Avenger?! Learned our lesson. Just passing on the info.

All rental Car companies generally classify cars one size larger. A mid size is considered a Corolla. I would call it a compact. A Camry is a full size, I would call it a mid size. If you want a true full size, move up to a Premium or Luxury.

Thanks! I have rented a Dodge Avenger from Dollar before & felt it was appropriately classified as mid-size. So I figured the Altima would be roomier as it was next class-size up. Learned my lesson. I will opt for a premium next time when I need full-size room.

IMO it is not a full size car but Dollar does list the Altima as it's full size car on the website.

They sure do, so this should have been expected. We fit a full size suitcase, 2 large carry on suitcases and 4 loaded backpacks with no issue a few weeks back.

Not sure what "should have been expected" NHDisneyfan? I simply expected the full-size trunk & cabin to be roomier than their mid-size Avenger. That is all. We have 4 adults. Feels exactly the same as the mid size Avenger we normally rent.

Just trying to pass on some helpful info to travelers who "expect" the full-size class to be any roomier than the mid-size. Pretty identical. Our friends rented an Avenger. So my point in posting was to let people know if they need more room than a mid-size do not expect Dollar's full-size to be the answer. As someone wisely suggested here---go right for the premium/luxury. So glad u had "no problem".
