My DD just told me this is her most wanted for Christmas. Can someone tell me where is the best price for a bundle. Should I wait until BF.
I have not bought a console since the Wii. I am so lost any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You in advance my Disboard Friends.

I would purchase it now. you can save the receipt and return/price adjust if a better deal comes along. I know Target has the regular switch and the Mario bundle is being released tomorrow. Pre Orders sold out but you can probably get one tomorrow I would think. I would not rely on a BF bundle for the Switch.

I agree with scottmel, don't wait for BF. The switch has only recently become available generally at retailers; when I was looking to purchase it, it was out of stock for months! Not sure if it will become a hot item for this Christmas, but I wouldn't want to take that chance.

Definitely don't wait counting on a discount on BF. They have been hard to get since they came out in March and are just now becoming more readily accessible in the store. On Friday the Super Mario Odyssey Bundle comes out with the red and black system, the game, and a mario case. You can't preorder it anymore but I bet if you go to target or best buy at opening on Friday morning you could get one.

If you can, get a bundle with a game you would definitely buy anyway. My daughter is obsessed with Splatoon, so we waited for that one, got it from ThinkGeek. The bundle is nice because it comes with the case and sometimes other stuff, we also got some kind of extra controller thing.

I wouldn’t wait. I don’t think we’ll see substantial discounts on the Switch this holiday. They’ll be having a hard enough time meeting demand as is.

The price for the Mario bundle is $380, and it comes with the Switch ($300), Mario Odyssey ($60), and a case ($20) – so there’s no savings over buying everything individually, but you do get everything in one nice gift package with special red controllers. If you think your daughter would prefer the grey or neon controllers or a different case, however, it wouldn’t cost you any more to buy everything separately.

The bundle (and the Mario game) comes out Friday. If you’re worried about sell-outs, certain Best Buy stores are doing an early opening (or staying open late) for Mario; this is either at midnight on Friday or Thursday evening, depending on your time zone. So that would give you the opportunity to try to get one Thursday night but then have the option to go to a Target or whatever on Friday morning if you were unsuccessful at Best Buy. I don’t know how “in demand” the bundle will be or if people will be lining up for it or whatever, but I’ve learned to never bet against Nintendo.

I agree with the others, I wouldn't wait. When we had enough money for the Switch, we couldn't get the system itself we had to get the Legend of Zelda bundle from Gamestop. It wasn't a bad deal though.

I wouldn't wait either...I got a one month backlog from the airline miles deal purchase I did...I'm hoping that means I'm getting a new bundle when it comes (since it won't tell you)...so, some places still can't meet demand and that may get worse after Black Friday...so prices are unlikely to move except maybe to provide an extra game or gift card...maybe...

We have the Wii U. My DS is asking for the Switch. I haven't done too much research but is it worth getting the new system? Thanks! BTW he is obsessed with Mario!

Thank You Everyone!
Your advice was so appreciated!
I went ahead and bought the Pink/Neon Splatoon Bundle at Walmart. It was the same price as the Bundle that will be on sale this Friday at Target. I am unsure if she would want the game or not but I am sure she will love the color!

Thank You so much I am so glad I have the Budget Board and my friends at Disboards to make such valuable advice when it come to gaming because I know nothing about it!!

I just bought this bundle at Walmart!! I bought it for the color. I hope she likes the game. Can you tell me more about the game?

WE are a Wii family as well. She has never wanted any other game system but the Wii so I am assuming that the Switch is very much the same as the Wii. I would take him to a local store that has the game on displat so he can try it out.

I took this into account when I went to buy the Switch with the red and Blue handles. Then she showed me the pink and green one and I was sold since I would have probably bought the case seperatly. Not so much the game but I loved the color. LOL

The Switch is DS's most wanted item for Christmas also. I ordered it from Target, and was able to get 5% off using my red card and picked it up in store the same day that I ordered it. I wasn't comfortable waiting until Black Friday as I'm sure there won't be any substantial savings and it will probably be hard to find.

I would not wait.

Although I doubt there will be the same level of shortage there was earlier this year, Nintendo is known for their lack of supply and the last thing you want is to pay an inflated price later because they are no longer available. This has happened very recently with the 3ds (even last year) where people waited and ended up paying almost 100 over retail to get one for Christmas.

I have the Mario Edition on preorder for my kids. I plan on getting DD Splatoon 2 for it and Mario Rabbids for DS. That should give them a nice start. I took the same advice to not wait. As popular as it is I don’t think there will be any kind of substantial sale. I think your DD will like Splatoon, my kids loved the first one.

Splatoon is super fun, so if you like the colors it’s a great bundle.

If you are a Wii family, switch is the next iteration of nintendo console so you will most likely want one sooner or later as all new Nintendo games will be coming out for switch.

I'm in for the Mario Odyssey bundle. Told DS that's all he's getting for Christmas. Luckily Grandma and Grandpa will probably get him some games and his birthday is in January so he can get other stuff then.

TopCashBack has 7% back from Walmart and Chase Freedom has 5% back (worth 7.5% back on travel with CSR) so this seems to be my best deal.
