We'll be (hopefully!) taking our kids new GC with us in Jan...just occured to me, though - what if airport security wants us to turn it on to check it...any suggestions?

TIA

Call the airport your leaving from as well as Orlando and see what they say. If they both say no problem be sure to get the name of the person that said it wouldn't be a problem. Might be good to call back twice just to make sure you get the same answer.

Just a note. Do you really think the kids will have time to play their new Gamecube? I don't plan on spending much time in my room and I'll be on my honeymoon!:smooth:

Thanks for the suggestions/tips!!

:D

I wish I could say that we'll be spending every minute in the Parks, or at the pools, but my kids have some special needs, and we know that "room time" is pretty much a guaranteed event!:D So taking their GameBoys is already a done deal...we thought if transporting their GC would be painless, that would give them another option ( and me some sanity!!;) )

Maybe we'll just pack it in the checked baggage - reallly well - and hope for the best..!!

Enjoy your "room time" too!!:D :sunny:

I'd just pack it in the luggage that gets checked....pad it with some shirts and socks and it will be fine. Plus, no reason to break your shoulder lugging around its deadweight.

We took the kids PS2 this past summer from MKE to MCO. Didn't have any issues. Took it in the traveling case and sent it through the x-ray with all our other stuff.

Oh, I *really* wouldn't put a game system in checked luggage, especially now that checked luggage cannot be locked. Way too tempting for someone in the bagroom or on the ramp to help themselves to. If you have to bring it, put it in a carryon.

I would definitely put the gamecube in the carryon luggage. They cannot survive the abuse luggage takes in transit. You may want to invest in one of the small screens that attach to the game cube. My DS has one and loves it. I love that it doesn't take up the one hotel room tv. Have a great time.

We took a Game Cube with us in December and didn't have any problems at all at the airport. I just carried it on in a backpack and sent it through X-ray with everything else. (It's not that heavy at all.) I wasn't sure whether we'd use it or not, but ended up being glad we had it along. It was nice for those down times at the resort.

Pat, did they make you turn it on at the airport? That's what we're concerned with...they have always made us turn on the GameBoys, camera, camcorder etc...all battery operated items...we were wondering how to take the GC and what to do if we had to turn it on... Thanks!!

MBB,

I took my XBox to Orlando last year for a business meeting (yes my business group is a little strange, playing Xbox until 2 AM every night). I had a carrying case for it and it definitely registered on the Xray machine as something to look at (got extra attention both ways). After I told them waht it was, the attention given to it was similar to my laptop computer, they would take a swab across it and put it into the analyzing machine. It wasn't that big of a deal really. I hope this helps.

Sorry, mbb. I didn't see your question, earlier, and now I'm probably too late, but . . .

No, they did not make me turn the Gamecube on. In fact, they didn't even blink. It was in the bottom of my backpack, along with a CD player, CDs, and Nintendo games, and I didn't even have to take it out. I'm sure you'll be just fine!

We took it in the roller carryon, and had no problems whatsoever...they checked it almost every time, and swabbed it, but other than that, the most attention it got was the questions they asked the kids about it..."how many games did you bring? What's your favourite, etc"!!

Thanks all for your tips and advice!!:sunny:
