$169 plus a $30 Walmart egift card

What is an egift card?

I want to buy her a DSi for her b-day which is not until October.

However, I want to grab a good deal when I see one.

Any opinions?

What else do I need to get her? A case? A starter kit?

TIA!

I paid $129 at Dell, they seem to run the special every so often. I only had the color choice of white but DS7 didn't care. He has a nerf armor case.

Someone, maybe toys r us, has it this week for that price but it came with a Mario game. If you think she would be interested in that then I thought it was a decent deal.

I would say if you don't need it until October you have time though.

I just checked and the warranty for DSi is one year, so you would lose about half of your warranty time if you have it hiding waiting for her birthday.

My kids have a DS and so do I. It is great for road trips. The joke in my house is we could never vacation w/o a DS/ DSI or a DVD player.

I think Dell had them for $99 recently. Is this the new DSi with the larger screen? If it's just the old DSi, I think you can do much better.

It is the old DSi, not the DSi XL.

Thanks, I'll hold off until it is closer to her b-day and watch for the Dell deal.

I would keep checking because sometimes dell or amazon have them at really good prices. They should all start falling since the new one just came out.

Dell has the white & pink for $129 right now w/ free shipping.

I still think I'm going to hold off since her b-day isn't until October.

Just an FYI in case anyone else is looking.........

I thought about getting that same deal, it had a game and a starter kit or something with it, but found one on E-bay instead. $127 for a brand new DSi, 10 older games, and a case. Not bad, and I'm saving it for Christmas, if I can :goodvibes

Wow! That's a great deal. Maybe I'll check out ebay too!

I am looking for one as well. There are bundles on the walmart website - console, accessories, game. Also found it on newegg - $129 with free shipping.:goodvibes

When I look at Dell and newegg, I see the DS for $129, not the DSi. Am I looking in the wrong place? :confused3 DD really wants a pink DSi for Christmas and I'm hoping to not pay full price. :rolleyes1

Thanks! Now I have to decide whether to grab it now or hope Game Stop runs a trade in deal closer to Christmas.

I'm holding off. I figured there will be plenty of deals and someone pointed out earlier in this thread that you'd lose 1/2 the warranty.

Plus, isn't there a DSi XL now? Is that different than the DSi? If it is, I would think the price would drop even more........

I have a DSi XL, and it's a lot bigger than a DSi (in my opinion). DD likes it, but it's not as comfortable for her to play; she thinks it's heavier and even though the screen size is bigger, the resolution isn't better. All the functions like the camera that DD likes are available in the DSi, and that comes in pink while the XL doesn't. I just wish they'd make at least one version of Nerf Armor that was 'girly'. DD definitely doesn't want orange, black, red or blue but I want something that'll protect this $$ little toy.

Ok, I've been watching and still have not found any deals besides $129 at Dell, occassionally. We are getting closer to October so I want to purchase something soon. There's a deal at Walmart today:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nintendo-DSI-Bundle/10974346?dest=9999999997&sourceid=08715970732641040443

Nintendo DSi Value Bundle w/ a Bonus* Accessory Kit, Two Games & a $20 Walmart.com eGift Card for $189.

It looks like some really good games listed. I also have a $10 ecard for Walmart to use, hoping I can use it.

Does this seem like a good deal or should I still hold out?

If yes, what games do you recommend for an 8 yr old girl?

Also be aware a DS 3D is coming. They say in Spring 2011. I am thinking there will be another price drop. I would wait.

If it were me I would probably want to buy it now and not wait a whole lot longer. If there are two games that you know she would like then it would be an okay deal if they were the more expensive games.

I know we paid $40 for pokeman platinum and just saw mario kart the other day for $23.

You do have more color options then dell usually has and looks like the white has a bonus game (which is the one I would choose).

I hate that they just keep releasing something new and better ever year. If we wait, we wait forever because there is always something better coming out, if we buy now then we have the I wish I waited thoughts. Darned if you do, darned if you don't

OP, I don't think you will find the really good deals until closer to Christmas which would put you past her b-day. Check out slickdeals.net, they always have the current deals posted.
