Do you have Gamestop close to you? They get a lot of our business. I like especially that if you buy a used game and its a dud you can bring it back within a week.

Nintendo is notorious for not offering any discounts. The best you can do is to try to find a package with accessories (like case) and extras for about the same price as the console itself. You can also try eBay for a used DS Lite console. The DSi just came out recently and some gamers will be updating their systems to the new one.

FWIW, I think that 5 is too young for a DS or Gameboy. Most of the games require reading ability and/or manual dexterity that my DD simply did not have when she was 5. I bought her a Gameboy Advance on eBay when she was that age and she became easily frustrated with the games ... even when I purchased her pre-school games. I sold it on eBay (at a profit ;)) a couple years later and I bought her a DS when she was about 7. Even then she LOST her first one  and I bought her another one a year later that she takes much better care of.

Walmart.com has bundles at good prices, and Target had the DS Lite for around $100 a few weeks ago and may do that again before. Amazon dropped the price as well, when Target did. In the past Black Friday was a day to find a good deal on the DS too.
I got my ds a DS from Dell for around $105, they have promo codes from time to time.

My ds got his gameboy at 5 and never had any problems using it, unless he was trying to play a game that was above his age level. He had a leapster from around age 3 so that may be why. Of course after almost a year with it, he can play pretty much anything his older bro can. He is getting his DS for his 6th birthday in a few weeks and I have no worries about his abilities to play any games. There are many out now geared to 5 year olds that do not require alot of reading or advanced dexterity.

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the comments regarding appropriate age. Boys are 6 1/2 now. I guess I should update my signature line:)
They have had leapsters for 3 yrs. They also play their cousins' DS frequently as long as they are age appropriate games.

I will check out the Gamestop selection for used games. I love gently used products. Especially when buying for 2.

I have seen the WM bundles and thought they were good deals. And I was told that dear Nintendo are not big on markdowns. Dell has DS for $99 a couple weeks ago, but I missed it. I want to keep looking.

Any sales in the Sunday paper (we live in God's country and dont get it). I am on my way to Amazon as we speak. Thanks for the inputs.

I got all 3 of mine from Amazon.com much closer to Christmas for good deals.

Dawn

Since the DSi is the newest version, you will probably see $99 deals on the DS closer to Christmas. I wouldn't expect big deals on the DSi, but Nintendo will try to pull in people who might not want to spend $169 on the DSi. Keep an eye on the Black Friday thread here to see if any go on sale for Christmas.

My DD6 got a DS when she was 5 - she has done fine with it. She can play many more game snow that she is a more fluent reader. I'm sure your twins will enjoy their DS's.
