Ludwig - sorry i am such a link ninny - i wan't able to figure out how to link you to the thread where myself and others dicussed these. I did copy and paste some details below. The thread was on the Parks attractions and Strategies board under a thread title of "light up pins"
The Magic Moments interactive videogame was a great buy!!!! It was quite crowded this past weekend and standing in line was a major drag for my 7 year old. The game was a birthday present and it was awesome. It comes with one game already loaded and 15 others "download" automaticly when you pass by the attractions that host the games. ( A few of the major attractions at each park - the activation signals are usually places somewhere near the fastpass distribution or entrances for each attraction.) Most CM's were clueless at to what the games where and where to get them activated.
they are self contained - you do not need to bring anything else along. You can buy them most anyplace that the magic moments pins are sold. (i personallly got mine at the Emporium at the front of Main Street, but saw them at most every Magic Moments Pin rack at the parks and resort gift shops.) They are shaped like a mickey head and are red and black with yellow buttons. The graphics are not gameboy quality, but the novelty of it and the excitement of getting a new game at the next ride kept my 7 year old very happy. The game has to be out in order to "download" the game when passing the sensor that sends the signal. (we has ours in our backpack when we entered splash mt and did not get the game.)
Ivanova got it right that they run @ 20 dollars and that You don't have to be hooked to anything, just get within close proximity of the sensors at the various attractions.
And, if you miss a chance to activate a game there is a code you can apparently punch into the game and it'll activate all 15 games. So no worry about missing games when it comes time to leave for home.
Even if you are playing another game and you pass a location where a new game will load, it will load the new game. (takes about 2 seconds!) Once you have the new game the others that you have "collected" stay on the game console. It has a menu where you can get a list of all possible games and where to pick them up and a list of the games you have collected so far. You can select any game you have collected at any time to play. They "stay" too. The only exception to this is that the games go away when the batteries die or you are replacing them. the game takes 3
AAA batteries and they run down quickly. the code Ivanova mentioned will activate all the games after replacing the batteries. (even the ones you did not collect while visiting WDW.)
You don't have to hook up to anything to download the game. (most of our games downloaded while we were getting our fastpasses. We just looked down and they were loaded. (the units have a little sensor between the mickey heads ears that picks up the signal that is transmitted from the unitl located at either the ride entrance or at the fastpass distribution center.) Like i mentioned earlier - most CM's had no clue what the game was, much less where or how to pick up the game for the ride they were working. AND the unit has to be out (not in a backpack) in order to recieve the signal.
