I have ADR's for Nine Dragons (China) when I go in May. I was just wondering if anyone has any comments about how this place is. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!:goodvibes

We enjoyed it when we ate there. The only problem we found was as soon as the DDP were introduced, the table became closer to each other and the quantity of the food lessened. However, we found the quality the same as before. We had always eaten there each vacation (sometimes twice).

However, I thought it was closed until November????How did you get a ressie in May?

I just seen somewhere....I beleive at allears that they pushed the rehab back until the last day in May. I called and sure enough that was the case. I noticed on the menu that they have dinner for 2 dinner and dinner for 4 and then individual menu items. I'm on the dining plan, do you know whats included with that??? Thanks!

To be honest, we always seemed to order the same things. We have our favourites from the regular menu. I do believe that the waitstaff will indicate whether the Sampler for 2 is included or not. In my opinion, I believe it is considered "special" , so most likely not.

I hope someone here knows for sure and will let you know.

We are usually on the DDP also, and it includes an entree, a drink and dessert each. Our favourites are Honey Sesame Chicken, Canton Pepper Beef and the Nine Dragon's Fried Rice. For children, the sweet and sour chicken is good. However, we never did like any of the dessert, but we are usually too full to eat any dessert.

Two years ago we tried Nine Dragons despite all the bad reviews and we LOVED it. The appetizers were fabulous (steak skewers & shrimp)I had the Honey Sesame Chicken :lovestruc and DH had some beef dish with peppers(Canton Pepper Beef). They were both outstanding...The kids LOVED the chicken with sweet n sour sipping sauce in a little boat...in fact we ate there another time later that week and it was just as wonderful!
This past Sept we were sooo excited to eat there again...and we were sooo dissapointed. :sad2: My Honey Sesame Chicken that I craved for 1 year was so sweet it was almost inedible. :sad1: No flavor...just SWEET:eek: . My DH had his beloved beef/pepper dish and the meat was really really tough. :sad1:
It will be closed for our next trip in Sept...but I am not sure when we might try it again. :confused3

First I will say that living in the Bay Area, with its connection to the Chinese community since the 1800's - we have the real stuff as far as Chinese food so I am WAY picky. I don't do bad Chinese. I don't do Chinese with MSG. I don't do overpriced, bland tasting Chinese.

This land is the place cold greasy noodles go to die. Nine Dragons I found overpriced for food that I could find for (a) cheaper, (b) larger portions and (c) more flavourful in either San Francisco, Oakland or even Stockton.

Now if you are like our friends in Virginia City Nevada and only have 1 chinese place to compare and think it's good only to find out when you eat the real thing that it is really bad, then you might like the WDW version of Chinese food.

My review too slow, overpriced and common for the price. You are paying for the decor (which is wonderful) but if you want great Chinese, I would suggest go where the locals in your big city Chinatowns eat. Menus in Chinese with few anglos are always a plus. If the native Chinese flock there, it's good.

BTW - my last review of this place was with a native from China. They laughed then wanted to eat in Norway.

I had always avoided this restaurant because of the bad reviews. However, last May I was doing a solo trip to WDW and decided to try it, just so I could say I had eaten in all of the TS restaurants in Epcot (except the upstairs Bistro in France:snooty: ). Anyway, I was very pleasantly surprised. I had a great window table overlooking the lagoon and a fantastic waiter. I asked him for the spicest thing on the menu and he pointed to the first entree (some sort of beef simmered in broth). He then asked me if I was sure, as it was "very spicy". I laughed, told him I was from Texas, and nothing could be too hot for a Texan. He hesitantly brought it to me, waited until I tasted it, and asked me if it was OK. I assured him it was delicious and I was very pleased. He came back a few minutes later looking very anxious and again asked me if it was OK and then offered to bring me something else for free, if I didn't like it. I had to assure him a second time that it was great. I couldn't eat it all, but it was too good leave either. He brought me a to go box, then boxed it up himself refusing to let me do it. When he brought my ticket, he also brought me a bowl of ice cream and told me it was on him, because he was afraid my mouth might be hot. It had started to rain while I was in there. My nice waitor insisted that I stay at the table until the rain stopped. He said they were not busy and he didn't want me to get wet. The food at Nine Dragons was delicious and the service outstanding.

Does anyone know for sure if the Samplers are included in the disney dining plan or not?? I was hoping for a bit of a variety of food. I guess we could always order a few dishes and share them all, since there will be 4 adults in total.
