Interested in opinions regarding Nine Dragons vs. Marrakesh. These are the only two restaurants available for dinner on our Epcot Day. We are four adults and two children and we are on the dining plan. Thanks.

Been to both Marrakesh is far better has a better selection of food. And if you are there when the dancers are on you'll see a good show

Somewhat depends on what you like/dislike for food. Never saw anything in Nine Dragons that I couldn't find in my local neighborhood Chinese restaurant for half the price. Marrakesh however is a bit more "exotic" in that you probably don't have one near your home.

Having said that I'm not a fan of Marrakesh, basically because I don't care for their food. The belly dancer is a nice distraction though. ;)

Marrakesh by far. The Roast Lamb Meshoui is great. Be sure to have either the hot (or cold . . . depending on weather) mint tea service. The restaurant's interior is stunning and I've always had great wait service. Enjoy!

Marrakesh. If only Nine Dragons was available, I would just eat counter service. Nothing special there.

I would choose Marrakesh. Nine Dragons, really doesn't offer anything that you can't get at any Chinese restaurant anywhere. I have had some pretty good meals at Marrakesh and some not so good meals. I'm not a big fan of the combo of beef & sugar, I just avoid those options.

Is anything available around the Boardwalk area? It's just a short walk from the Word Showcase. Beaches & Cream, Captain's Grille, & Cape May are a few options. Some Signature Dining options are available in that area also.

Quick question for those who have eaten at Restaurant Marrakesh.

I noticed that Chicken Bastilla is on the menu at Restaurant Marrakesh. I love chicken bastilla. It's pretty much impossible to find where I live, and I very rarely make it because it is a futsy recipe, so I'm considering lunch here.

Has anyone tried it at Restaurant Marrakesh? It's considered an appetizer. How big is it? Last time, a quiche lorraine from the bakery in France was enough for lunch for me and, when sussed out with a dessert, enough for DH (one per person). Is this comparably filling?

If neither appeals to your group consider leaving Epcot through the International Gateway between the UK and France. There you can walk or take a boat to the Beach Club (Cape May Cafe or Beaches and Cream), The Yacht Club (Captain's Grill or Yachtsman Steak House), or the Boardwalk (ESPN Club, Tratoria al Forno, Flying Fish and Big River Brewing Co). After Dinner you can get back into Epcot the same way you left.

Eateries at the Swan and Dolphin are also easily accesible, but the are not included on the Dining Plan.

If Nine Dragons and Marrakesh do not appeal, I agree that there are a number of excellent restaurants at the Epcot resorts that you might want to check out. They are all easily accessible via the International Gateway between France and the UK. It would take about 10 min to walk or you can take the boat. Our favorite is Flying Fish at the Boardwalk Inn, but it is a signature restaurant so 2 credits per person. Some other restaurants include the Captain's Grill, ESPN, Big River Grill and Trattoria al Forno.

You can continue checking for reservations online even while you are in DW. There will be cancellations up to the last minute, but the deadline for cancelling any reservation you make without incurring the $10 per person penalty is 11:59 PM the night before so if you find something up to the day before, you can book it and then cancel your current res without penalty.

I have never had it anywhere but at Epcot (at Food and Wine stands and Marrakesh) but felt it was very good. We also really like the brewat, enough in fact that I have bought the cookbook from there so I can make both at home. I generally get the appetizer platter for 2 instead of an entree, that gives me 2 of the bastilla, 2 brewat, and the salad and that makes a good main meal of the day for me. If you order just the bastilla you will get 2 of them and they are triangles maybe 2.5-3 inches on the hypotenuse.

I have never eaten at Restaurant Marrakesh, the menu would not appeal to some in the family. Nine Dragons is very average Chinese food. We eat Chinese often at home, and have eaten at Nine Dragons a couple of times, but only if it was the only option. I agree with other posters to check the Boardwalk and Beach Club area.

Thanks for the suggestions. Boardwalk/BC area not available either. Will play it by ear and see if anything opens up as time gets closer.

I order the appetizer combo for two as my entree almost always so I've had the bastilla quite a bit. I enjoy the flavors - it's not the type of thing I often make at home. I do think the chicken in it is a bit dry most of the time but since it has a flavor profile I rarely get, I am totally forgiving. Based on what you said about the quiche filling you up, I think ordering just the bastilla would be enough. But certainly the app combo for two would do the trick. And you'd get some other items.

Did you search for lunch time as we'll? You may have better luck finding a table at 2:30 or 3:00. Then you can get counter service or a snack later.

THANK YOU both for taking the time to reply. Sorry OP for hijacking your thread a bit. :rolleyes1
