Saw article on Allears. Just called to make reservation for Oct. Noticed new menu options when I called Dis Dining number.

Great news. I will have to check it out next week. Thanks for the heads up:thumbsup2

Thank you for posting this. I called yesterday and was told it was closed. I just called and got lunch set for us.

I just called and made res for October trip. I thought it was going to be closed until Nov..... I guess so does everyone else. I got what I wanted with no problem.... Better hurry before everyone knows its open...

We went to check out the FWF soft opening, and Nine Dragons was doing a soft opening tonight so we went for dinner.

Main impression? It's much brighter inside, new carpeting, new tables and booths, etc. Smells much better. Food and menu try to be PF Chang's, but with smaller portions. We're pretty small eaters now, and we were easily able to finish our dinners, even after having a few samples at the booths outside.

We shared the pickled cucumber salad, which was as tasty as it was before, but about half the size I'd wish it would be for the price (5.95).

I ordered the vegetarian stir fry, and DH the Zha Jiang Noodles Sampler. The vegetarian stir fry was *decent* but nothing special, and fairly tiny. Nearly the side of a side dish, really. DH somewhat enjoyed his dish, but there was very little meat in the sauces, and he would have much prefered the veggies stir fried instead of raw. For reference, his dish was presented as a tray with two bowls of noodles, two bowls of meat sauces (one pork one chicken), a bowl of napa cabbage, one of edamame, one of shredded carrots, one of shredded cucumbers, all raw.

I ordered a plum wine, green tea liquor, and gin martini, which was pretty tasty and served with olives as a garnish. Might sound odd but it worked well.

We skipped dessert, but the gentleman next to us ordered banana egg rolls, which looked like it came with green tea ice cream.

Walking out, it looked like all the portions were fairly small, even for our taste (we generally prefer smaller portions but). And again, they were really trying to be PF Chang's. We in all likelihood won't go back, or at least, anytime soon, but we're glad we gave it another try.

As I told DH, nothing about it smacked of "unpolished" or "needing to work the kinks out." Just nothing generally stood out.

We had dinner at Nine Dragons last night (Thursday-opening day)
Have to pretty much agree with the pp, portions were very small, but we thought the food was quite good.
They did a beautiful job with Nine Dragons, it has a very clean and open look to it. Not sure what happen to the "open kitchen" that they had talked about earlier.
It also seems that they have taken a cue from Teppan Edo, they (servers) spend a lot of time, telling you where they are from and asking you the same. Then the servers went on to explain how they decided to decorate Nine Dragons, the menu changes and how much they want to please the guests.
The placemats on the table are very clever and fun, you will actually get to pratice the Chinese letters.
Even with the small servings, we'll be back.

I have seen pictures and the restaurant looks so pretty!

I just checked out the menus (on AllEarsNet.com), and they look a bit limited to me.

So, no open kitchen? No cooking at the tables? That would be good news to us .
We had a very nice lunch there last Jan and when I heard about the closing , my only hope that it wouldn't end up 'Benihana' style.

Thanks so much for the updates!!!

:goodvibes
