This article compares Nikon Kit lenses: 18-55, 18-70, 18-135, and 18-200VR.

Might be a worthwhile read for anyone mulling a move to a Nikon DSLR.

The article seems to throw a few softballs - most tests done at F8, the largest aperture used is F5.6 - most any lens should look pretty good at F8. Do the tests at F3.5 and you'll probably see more differences between the lenses, I suspect. Especially when the 50mm prime is tossed in for reference...

Photozone has reviews of the lenses and their conclusions usually mention the other lens in this group. Worth checking too IMHO, they offer more valuable info in my opinion than in the other article.
