nikkor 80-400vr?

I thought I'd chime in with what I've been using. I don't have any experience with the 18-200 so I can't tell you anything about it. However, I think you really should consider the 80-200 F2.8 lens. I have been using mine for almost all of my action photos and I've been more than pleased with it.

Yes, it is a chunk of glass but I like the extra weight for panning. Here's a couple of photos I took with it of it:

If you're looking for a mid range lens, I really dig the 24-120 VR

It's a little extra weight compared to the "kit" lens but I find I use this lens more when venturing off in the parks.

hmm...I really do love the 80-200,

but...now I don't think it will fit in the new Stealth reporter d200...bag is smaller than I thought! Or the D200 body is larger...:confused3 I put in the body w/ the 18-70, the speedlight, and I think I will barely be able to squeeze in 2 lenses...we'll see...plus DH says that he doesn't want to carry that monster glass...lol
