Nikki's trip report~Finally Complete! Come read. Pg 25

So after getting some well deserved down time at the pool, we had to get around for our ADR at Ohana.

You know, you'd think it would be easier to have 2 boys verses girls as far as getting around. I am here to tell you boys primp just as much as girls.

Anyway, we decided tonight we were going to take the bus to MK, then hop the monorail to the Poly. This is the one and only time we used the bus. It really wasn't a bad experience, I just didn't like it. I think we made 2 or 3 stops on our way.

We just don't have to do this when we drive.

We had some time to kill before dinner so we decided to check out the Gingerbread house at The Grand Floridian.

Stop at The Contemporary, The TTC, The Polynesian and finally The GF. It sure is a lot of stops.

We get out and suddenly feel like The Clampetts. We totally felt outclassed by this place. It was just beautiful. We go inside and see the Gingerbread House from the balcony. It was gorgeous.

A little dark, but it really is there.

We get in the elevator and there is a place to put your room key. We just kind of look at each other like what do we do now? I seriously thought you needed a room key to make the elevator move:confused3 !

Then I feel even more stupid when this nice lady with a stroller gets in and explains the whole concierge thing to us. We didn't need the key to go to the bottom.

Oh Steerage! It's kind of like the whole Titanic thing!

Who Knew????

Probably all of you, but us Clampetts didn't have a clue. Thanks to the nice lady who learned us!!

We get off the elevator and are struck with the most wonderful smell.

Gingerbread!!

Oh I so could have eaten this House.

I was just about to go around to purchase some cookies when this lady comes up and offers us a sample.

I love samples! Especially when I am planning on buying the same thing.

Nikki did NOT like the cookie! Yucky!

It really was gross. The boys didn't like it either. Jay doesn't do samples so he will never know.

We got back in the elevator and this time we knew exactly what to do.

Just press the stinkin button!!!

We got out and just admired the view. It's so beautiful. Almost takes you back to another time. Or parallel universe. whatever you prefer.

Very Very nice resort! But I like Boardwalk better.

We got back on the monorail. I really didn't give this whole thing much thought because we really spent a lot of time on the monorail.

Stop at MK, Stop at Contemperary, Stop at TTC, finally back around to the Poly.

This place is awesome. I could definitely stay here. How beautiful.

It was very easy to find Ohana and we were immediately checked in and given a buzzer. There were a lot of people waiting so we went to check things out. As soon as we stepped outside, the buzzer went off.

We didn't get a seat with a great view, but we really didn't care either. We were hungry! We were served our Salad, Shrimp, Wings and drinks.

We were digging into them and she brings out these warm wet towels for our messy wing fingers. They were great. So much better than a wetnap!

Suddenly all this food kept coming. There were potatoes, veggies, Steak, Turkey, Sausage and Pork. A meat lovers fantasy!!

We ate and ate and ate! The salad was great. The lime dressing was out of this world.

I've heard people say they felt rushed, but we weren't. Nothing was taken off our table that we didn't want taken off our table. The meat never stopped, it kept coming and coming.

After our bellies were full, the Cousin cleared our table and told us she would get us desert.

We waited.

And waited.

And waited.

She kept coming by saying it would be right out. Okay, about half an hour later it WAS right out. We were a little miffed.

Until...........................

We took a bite. Oh my goodness gracious, this Bread Pudding was the most fantastic thing I have ever tasted. I wish we could have eaten more but we were stuffed. Even if we weren't stuffed it would have been closing time before we got more.

All in all this was a WONDERFUL meal. :thumbsup2 I highly recommend it.

I wanted to look around a bit so we went downstairs and outside. It was so pretty with the torches all lit.

The pictures just do not do it justice.

We checked out the gift shop and hopped back on the monorail. We rode it back to MK, got off and got on the one to Epcot.

We got to Epcot in a short amount of time. Don't you just love this place at night? It just seems like a totally different park.

Since we did Future World this morning, it was a night for World Showcase.

But First.

The evil in me remembered...............Beverly.

I talked up Club Cool so everyone was kind of excited to try it.:rolleyes1

They tried some of the others first. I casually brought up Beverly and how I heard it was really good.

Ya right, they know me better than that. And not to mention they became a bit suspicious when I grabbed my camera.

But they were good sports and tried it anyway.
47b7cc24b3127cceb11b5525a88100000026100BcsWbZyybMY

Trying to be tough guys!
47b7cc24b3127cceb11b6bbaa80100000026100BcsWbZyybMY

Well at least one of them gave in and made the icky face. Jay and Robby were TOTALLY faking it!

Well since I had made them do it, they felt it necessary to make me try too.

Fair is Fair I guess. ~no laughing~
47b7cc24b3127cceb11b6bb4a80f00000026100BcsWbZyybMY

Okay guys, this is really nasty stuff. Eeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuw!

On to World Showcase.

It was Fiesta Time!

We rode the new ride in Mexico. I confess, I like the Cheesy version better. It kind of takes away from the feeling you are in Mexico cause I'm pretty sure I'm not going to run into Donald Duck there.

I really like shopping around in here. They have some really neat things, like Sombreros and morraccas and drums.
47b7cc24b3127cceb11b69b4293e00000026100BcsWbZyybMY

I look like the Mexican Minnie Pearl.

Time for a Mango Margarita.
47b7cc24b3127cceb11b6e74e85500000026100BcsWbZyybMY

Really, this was about as bad as the Beverly. Not very good at all. I like it on the rocks anyway. But for as much as one of them cost, I had to drink some.

The boys didn't even give me crap about it. They just wanted me to share!

We wandered over to China. I don't know why we skipped Norway. I seem to forget about Maelstrom. I can't remember the last time I was on it.

We shopped in China for a while. Robby bought a couple things for his friends while Matt and I played.

C'mon, you can do better!
47b7cc24b3127cceb11b6f06a8bf00000026100BcsWbZyybMY

Poor kid. I don't think he realized his picture would be posted on the internet.

Some random China pics.

Again, it smelled really good. I just wasn't going to try it. YUCKY!

Besides, I had my heart set on some Napoleon from France. This is very good stuff. I had them box it up for me to eat later. This is something you just can't rush.

After we were done in France I was ready to go. Illuminations had started and I wasn't feeling very good. I really think it was the Margarita. It wasn't settling very well.

Robby was taping Illuminations and he wanted to finish so we told him we were going to head back.

The boat had just taken off so we just walked. What a beautiful night.

VERY nice!
47b7cc24b3127cceb11b61d0295e00000026100BcsWbZyybMY

What a guy! Carrying my Napoleon for me!

Robby must have been speed walking back to the room. He walked in like 2 minutes after we did.

We got our jammies on and watched t.v. until we all fell asleep. Oh, I had a few bites of my precious pastry. Soooooo Gooooood!

It was a very nice day. It really felt good to take our time and not rush around to make sure we got everything in. It was a lot less stressing doing it this way.

 Your Grand Floridian elevator ordeal is too funny.

I can't wait to see that Gingerbread House, the pictures are always so beautiful and I bet it is even better in person. :goodvibes

Epcot really is lovely at night, especially the World Showcase.

Not to self, do not get mango flavoured margarita in Mexico.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Clampets!

That elevator episode is a hoot. Well, if you don't travel a whole lot, and don't stay in hotels a lot, then how are you supposed to know? :confused3

Still though, very funny! :lmao:

Some people try to make cookies too fancy. I just like 'em soft, chewy and with M&M's. ::yes::

Club Cool rulez! Never had a Beverly though??? :confused3 :confused3

I love Epcot at night. Lin does too. It's now our favorite date night place to go when we get a sitter for the kids.

So I am totally BUMMED that we missed the cool station where is it? It must be on the side of WS that we keep missing.... We always start in england?? I don't think we have ever made it to Norway, Mexico or China. Didn't that gingerbread house smell good at the GF. Just think I was there a month later and it smelled good then! We didn't try cookies because after all it was Xmas Eve and Santa was there. I also agree about the Poly we want to stay there too!
I LOVE LOVE your pictures of the BW at night WE ARE STAYING THERE NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!

can't wait to get my puter and start my report again!

I'm hungry now!

Mango maritas are my favorite, but yours wasn't too good? Don't know if I should try one when I go.

I like the pictures of Mexico, The Mexican minnie Pearl just about knocked me out of my chair. Instead of howdeeeeeeee, did you yell Holaaaaaaaaa?

 Your Grand Floridian elevator ordeal is too funny.

We will NEVER make that mistake again! Geesh!
I can't wait to see that Gingerbread House, the pictures are always so beautiful and I bet it is even better in person. :goodvibes

You are so gonna love it. The pictures just don't do it justice, with all the detail and such. I found a list of all the different resorts with Gingerbread things. The only one we didn't see was at the Beach Club.
Epcot really is lovely at night, especially the World Showcase.

Totally my all favorite place to be.
Not to self, do not get mango flavoured margarita in Mexico.
You might like it. I don't want to discourage anyone from trying one. In my younger day, I could drink tequila all day. That's probably what the problem is now, I have an immunity to it. My body rejects it??:confused3

Oh to be young again!!!!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Clampets!
I am so not Granny though. I'm a second cousin. Wanna hear something funny??

We have a squirrel running through our walls and in our ceiling. Jay wanted to get the BB Gun and stick it up in the drop ceiling and try to shoot it. If that doesn't sound like Jethro I don't know what does.

Ever had squirrel jerky???:scratchin
That elevator episode is a hoot. Well, if you don't travel a whole lot, and don't stay in hotels a lot, then how are you supposed to know? :confused3
This IS true! We go a lot of places, we just don't stay in really fancy ones. We will though, when we get the money for that Texas tea!!

Oil that is!!

Some people try to make cookies too fancy. I just like 'em soft, chewy and with M&M's. ::yes::
Oh, me too. Like take em out of the oven 3 minutes before they are done so they are warm and gooey. No cooling them either. From the pan to the mouth. We made some chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips in them a few days ago. Oh, what a little bit of heaven:cloud9: !!

I love Epcot at night. Lin does too. It's now our favorite date night place to go when we get a sitter for the kids.
I get to go on a date with me, myself and I in November. The 3 of us have so much to talk about. My daughter is meeting up with friends and going to Pleasure Island. So I have the whole evening for me!! Can't wait. Perfect for date night.

I'm hungry now!

Sorry! I am reading Ohana's is changing their menu. :headache: Really a bummer. They always mess with the good stuff!!
Mango maritas are my favorite, but yours wasn't too good? Don't know if I should try one when I go.

You really need to spend more time in the WS. Club cool is in between Poland and Greece!!:lmao: Silly girl!!

No really it's up by the Innoventions. Oh, and there is no Poland or Greece. Oh, and you have to start in Canada or Mexico unless you are coming from the International Gateway. Confused yet???

Seriously. Spend a whole day there. You will never miss it again.
Didn't that gingerbread house smell good at the GF. Just think I was there a month later and it smelled good then! We didn't try cookies because after all it was Xmas Eve and Santa was there. I also agree about the Poly we want to stay there too!
I wonder if they spray it with something to keep it smelling good? It did smell wonderful. I told them you were coming so they had to make sure it was just right for your arrival.

I did good huh??
I LOVE LOVE your pictures of the BW at night WE ARE STAYING THERE NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!
That is great!! Yaaay for you. It was so nice. I know I keep saying that, but it was so nice.
can't wait to get my puter and start my report again!
Hurry, get going!!! I can't wait either.

Don't worry, Nik, I would have been totally confused by the elevator too! So what exactly is it? In order to get up to the penthouses you need to swipe your room key? Is that their way of keeping us street-rats off of the plush carpeting and from getting our dirty fingers on the 24k gold railings? :rotfl2: too funny!

That dinner at Ohana sounds great! We've only ever been there for breakfast and that was great...and we did the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show a few years ago but that was yucky. Even Lumar seemed interested in the dinner...he was reading your description over my shoulder :thumbsup2 I hope they don't change it TOO much. I'll have to keep my eye on the menu....

I had the same experience with my margarita! I am NOT a big fan of tequila but I was hoping that getting it "strawberry" flavored would mask the taste a bit.... UM NO! I had like 5 sips and gave the rest to Lumar. He chugged it, but only because we were getting on Maelstrom and he wasn't about to throw away a $9 drink!

I never had Napoleon from France....describe please :flower3:

Your boys are so cute, and they are such good kids, I swear! You're a lucky lady!

Something like that. It's to get to the concierge floor. Wouldn't want us up there getting our hands on the free food. Apparently they make those guests special cards to get up there.

By the way, they were only 10K gold!:snooty: They were reduced to lead the further you went down.

I'm watching too. It was VERY yummy. I liked it better than LeCellier.

I tried giving it to Jay, but he didn't want it. He doesn't ever drink. Some days I wish he would. ***coughgrumpycough*** I was hoping the Mango would cover it. Not even close.

Heaven in a pastry. It's crispy layers of Phyllo, then a layer of custardy pudding, more phyllo, more pudding and another layer of phyllo. Sprinkled with powdered sugar. I don't like real sweet deserts, this was perfect. The Phyllo layers took a lot of the sweet away.
Your boys are so cute, and they are such good kids, I swear! You're a lucky lady!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! They really are good kids most of the time. Robby is getting to be where he knows everything and I'm a stupid mom and know nothing.
I just slap him back into reality. Normal teenage stuff. He just turned 17 on the 6th.
Matt has learned from me dealing with Robby and his sister what he can and can't get away with. He doesn't argue much.
I hear from a lot of other parents talking about the things they are dealing with. I truly appreciate what I have when I hear it. They stay involved in everything so they don't have time to get in trouble.
Robby's in Orchestra, Choir, Drama and has a job
Matt's in Football, then Wrestling, now Baseball. He works with Jay in the summer taking care of Lawns and Landscaping (family business)

So they are always busy. I'm very proud of them and tell them that all the time. I know they need to hear it and it keeps them wanting more.

I just love hearing people tell me that though, so thank you!!

ok this will seem really bad we spent two days there! doing what I don't know! We spent one day in future world or what ever it is called and the other day we were to spend the whole day in WS but kids including DH wanted to ride some rides so we only spent the afternoon in WS. then we had to leave for DINNER! You mustn't let a princess wait and you can't make her wait on her engagement party. We did the Cinderella's dinner at 1900 park fare.

The Margarita's looked really good I am a tequila drinker. I drank a half a bottle BIG bottle of margarita mix last year I had the whole dam fam here mom dad step mom dad GF it was just great going to do it again next week.

make sure you stop at the Margarita stand in Mexico next time you're at WS. It's basically just straight tequila with some pretty colored ice thrown in for good measure :rotfl2:

wow that sounds really good! I'll definitely try one next time! See? this is why I love the DIS because I always find something new to try on my next WDW trip!!

Pop Century had a prety good mango margarita, MGM had an awesome Pina Colava.

I think my next trip is going to have a slightly larger drinking allowance!

WOW, you go girl. Do you do the salt and lemon/lime? Or are you just kind of a straight up girl? What about the worm? Do you get dibs on that?

Matt told me he and his sister have a bet. She bet him a new pair of Louis Vuitton shoes that she will get me wasted on our trip. He bet her a new pair of some expensive kind of shoes that I won't.

I'm wondering what happens if I get a little tipsy. Do I win? Stay tuned!!

You can really have fun with this one. Won't kids ever learn? You can't make bets with siblings when it also involves a parent.

Approach each kid separately, which ever kid offers you the bigger and better bribe is the kid you help win the bet. I mean after all why should you have to be the guinea pig?:confused3
