Hi. I'm new to the Universal boards so don't flame me if this is old news...

But I (actually my wife) just received a survey about theme parks and whether you consider them a "Stay Until Close" park or not. Well this line of questioning lead to nighttime spectaculars.

Long story short, it was about Universal producing a "Movie based nighttime water show" that would feature iconic moments from a major movie studio's rich 100 year filmmaking history.

It looked similar to Disneyland's World of Color with spherical movie screens added.

Thought someone would like to know. Sorry again if this is old news.

I've heard on a theme park rumors site about the possibility Universal might add a new nightly show, don't know much else but it looks like something we'll see.The truth is the parks do need it,when people compare what Disney offers to Universal and they see no nighttime show, that's a negative one for Universal.

I agree...Universal does need a nightly show and longer park hours...but...we'll see what happens...if anything.

:thumbsup2

I agree that longer hours and a night time show would help a lot.

In early August of 2006 I took my Girl Scouts to UO/IOA & saw the show. It was only shown during busy times (which is why that was the ONLY time I ever saw it!) and it was nice. Nothing spectacular but enjoyable to see in passing.

Here's the description from wdwinfo:

The show is called Universal 360, with the 360 being a reference to the fact that there are fireworks and special effects that surround the park during the show. The show is held during the busier seasons during the year, and takes place around the lagoon inside Universal Studios theme park. Spanning the length of lagoon are 4 large globes that display the various film clips that serve as the foundation for the show.

I have a feeling that US is up to something regarding the night time shows. The last time I was there about 3 weeks ago, the barges that house Universal 360, had been cleaned off of equipment, and the barges themselves were moved to the docks, instead of in the middle of the lake where they usually sit. Normally, the spheres on the barges are just deflated, and they sit in the lake until needed. This is the first time, Ive seen them moved and completely clean. At least 1 barge is missing from the lake. No projectors, a/c units or any thing else. Even the stands for the fireworks are missing. if I remember correctly, US used to have a stunt show in the lake. I dont remember if it was at night or during the day. Ill try and check around the next time we go and see what the cast is saying.

It was called, Dynamite Nights Stunt Spectacular. It ran from 1990-2000. It was a 20 minute stunt show with boats, jumps, and gun fights in the lagoon. It was at the end of the day in the parks final hour. Saw it many times and was a neat show.:thumbsup2

That would be it.
I thought it ran longer then that.(year wise)I remember seeing it a few times.

It seamed like it did run longer, but that's because a lot of the props stayed in the lagoon until 2006 when it was replaced with the Universal 360 show.
