We are thinking about going down on Aug. 15-16... the only evening we would have would be Saturday night in the parks.

Is it possible to see the Light Parade in DCA at 8:45, and then see the fireworks at 9:25 at DL? Could we just pop in somewhere near the entrance on MS and see them - I assume it will be crowded, but just wondering if we couldn't find some type of spot near the train station. Can't remember how long the parade is...

Also, how is getting a spot for the 2nd F!? I know the first one needs hours of stake out - I guess for the 2nd you can't even try until the 1st one (and fireworks I would guess) clear...

Thanks for any insight on if this is at all possible. :)

DisneyMomma81 did the Ultimate Entertainment Trifecta on July 15,
and she wrote about it at the following thread (post #1):
We did it ~ DLR Wed. 7/15

To make a fast getaway from the DEP to the fireworks, it made sense to watch the DEP from the Paradise Pier area (link), and after the last float you could walk (quickly) to Golden Dreams and walk past GRR or Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, and walk past Soarin’ to exit DCA.

But making a fast getaway from the Paradise Pier area probably isn’t possible right now because of the construction walls in DCA. I think that it would be better to watch the DEP from the old Golden Dreams area (link), and be prepared to walk past GRR or RCCT, etc.

In the following thread, DangerMouse wrote about the Trifecta in post #8, and HydroGuy wrote about seeing the fireworks and the second Fantasmic in post #2.

Okay, first, location location location. In order to have the best chance to pull this off, you want to be in the right spot when watching the parade. You want a spot in line with the entrance of the DCA. We try to get a spot within the scope of the Golden Gate Bridge. (This will make complete sense when you see it.) As soon as the last float passes by you, your party heads straight to the exit. (You will NOT be the only one doing this.)

The second you see the last float, you turn and "walk with purpose" towards the gate. You cross the Esplanade between the 2 parks and hit the Main Gate to DL. Here's where your first road block is going to hit. If you were the only one doing this, you could soar right in. However, you are going to meet a wall of fellow guests that are also just leaving DCA to catch the fireworks - all of whom have to pass through the turnstiles with you. Then, you (and all of your new best friends) have to funnel through the tunnels under the railroad and enter Main Street. Here, you will meet your next batch of new best friends: all the people that have been camped out for hours to watch the fireworks show.

Is it do-able? Yes. Does it require patience, perseverance, and an acceptance to not have the best view, but a view? Yes. But it can be done.

Now, when we went, the ELP started late. This means there is NO chance of hitting Main Street before the fireworks. In fact, they started as the last float passed in front of us. As we were exiting DCA, we were watching the fireworks framed within the Golden Gate Bridge while walking towards the exit of DCA. If was actually pretty cool. If you get out of DCA before the fireworks start, you still have to get in the Main Gate of DL AND on to Main Street. Remembering that you are not the only one with this plan, this is not easy as there will be a backlog at the gates entering DL. It is at this point that you have a decision to make. You can either just hang in the Esplanade between the 2 parks and watch the fireworks OR attempt to get in the Park and get to Main Street.

Also, how is getting a spot for the 2nd F!? I know the first one needs hours of stake out - I guess for the 2nd you can't even try until the 1st one (and fireworks I would guess) clear...

You do NOT wait for the 1st to clear before heading in for the 2nd Fantasmic! If you do, you will never see it.

To watch the 2nd Fantasmic! show, you ideally want to watch the fireworks right where Adventureland / Frontierland joins Main Street. Now, if you are all the way over to the left, on Main Street, you will have trees blocking the left/above the castle area - which is not good. So, you want to be more center, but on the side of Adv/Front entrance (just slightly). If this is not do-able (because of watching ELP), then just do as best as you can.

The SECOND the fireworks show ends, you turn and "walk with purpose" toward the entrance to Frontierland. There will be CMs directing people everywhere. Your key is to get as far up Main Street as possible. If it is very crowded they will be directing people in a circle pattern. This keeping everyone moving, but if you join in on the wrong side of the Main Street, you get sent around the long way, which you REALLY don't want. So watch the pattern and before you step on that sidewalk. Once you are heading toward the River, what we do is hold on to each other hand in hand and walk sort-of single file with the crowd.

Now, here's the key: As you (and many others) are moving toward the River, all those who watch the 1st Fantasmic show are heading out to Main Street. For this reason it's important that you listen to where the cast members are telling you to walk and go there. You will think, "But everyone is going that way. It's a mass of people. We're done." BUT - if you have done the above, you are in front of most of the mass of people. Keep walking. When you get to New Orleans Square, go to the river front. Most people will stay up by pirates. This is where you can break a bit from the crowd. Others will be there already. That's ok. Others will have spots. That's ok. Remember, there are LOTS of people behind you - you are in front of them. Yay you! Find a spot. Claim it. Enjoy.

It's not as difficult to do as it sounds when reading this, it's just a case of trying to be in front of the crowds, not behind them. :)

Have fun!

oK so after reading all of that tell me what you think about this

we will watch the parade near the gg bridge- we will have 2 strollers so hopefully we can get out of there- if it's easier without the strollers we could leave them by the dca entrance or at dlr somewhere even back by hm

so we will hightail it as quickly as possible over to dlr go to the top of train station and watch the fireworks from there- is there somewhere to stand up there and can you hear the music? I don't care if it's not the greatest view, just want to see the summer fireworks.

Then we will ride the train over to nos and hopefuuly grab some type of spot for F hopefully.

Don't know about the strollers- I hope I can get the kids to nap this day!!

Thoughts? Lay it on me...

While many regular guests watch it from the Golden gate area and leave after it's all finished, most Dis'ers tend to watch it from the *beginning*, as Columbia mentioned, then walk briskly out. You'll likely be *at least* to the gates, and maybe beyond (all the timing is off b/c of the construction walls right now!), by the time the parade finishes, so you'll be in front of those who waited in the Sun plaza/golden gate bridge area.

However, they slow down entry to DL, specifically to keep people from doing this and clogging up Main Street. Expect not many turnstiles to be open, and lines.

In December 2006, I decided to watch the parade from the Golden Gate Bridge and then head over to Disneyland to watch the fireworks. I did manage to see some of the fireworks from the esplanade, but that was about it. It didn't work. I think it was because the parade ends at that area of DCA a few minutes before the fireworks start and you then have to contend with everybody leaving the park at the same time.

I've watched the parade from Paradise Pier (where the new TLM ride will be) twice and caught the fireworks both times from inside Disneyland on Main Street with minutes to spare. By watching it from the Pier, you will have a head start on the masses leaving the park. Be aware that you will have to leave immediately and walk with purpose. Avoid strollers if you can because they will be extremely difficult to deal with once you reach Sunshine Plaza due to the crowds watching the parade from there. Any sort of delay will likely throw a wrench into the works. The key is to be on your way out of DCA as the last float comes in view. It's tough, but doable.

OK so that makes sense... the parade starts in the back by Pizza Oom Mow Mow right? (Or they may have taken that out? anyway, you know where I mean).

So we should watch from - I am having a hard time finding a good map - but that building that is the Palace of Fine Arts near the Exploratorium in San Francisco... that brown dome-like one right? Then we can "easily" escape down past GRR and Soarin' - and the idea is to get out before the parade ends and thus all the folks from the GG Bridge area get out. Yes?

And I realize it will be messy getting into DL - I think we will plan the train station and either way, fireworks or not, we'll hop the train to somewhere to avoid Main Street. Maybe I'll ask in another thread about watching the fireworks from the train station...

Does that seem correct? I fully realize it could all blow up... that's ok. I think I mainly want to see the Light parade - if we miss other stuff then oh well.

Thanks!
Kim

in June we watched ELP from the beginning by the orange stinger. We walked out behind the flag after the parade. It took forever! The walls make it impossible to get out. We got out just in time to see the fireworks from the esplanade. They were ok they pipe in the music but I just didn't like the stuck feeling walking behind the parade. I won't do that again if the walls are still up and there is nowhere to escape. :scared1:
Then we hopped the train to NOS station and found an ok spot for the 2nd show of F! By the raft entrance :) not ideal viewing spots for anything but ELP that night.

I'm pretty sure it would be possible to do all three on Saturday, 8/15, with just a little luck.

Apparently there are rumors that the dragon will actually be running starting 8/16--honestly, it sounds to me like that may be wishful thinking. Still, IF you hear from reliable sources (not just random CMs) that the dragon is there a day "early", on 8/15, then you MAY find it a lot more difficult to get to the viewing for Fantasmic.

The main reason that the shows get crowded when new things come in are seem to be of annual passholders eager to see anything new. But luckily, all APs except the Premium/highest level APs are blocked out on Saturday, so the crowds will HOPEFULLY be lighter than they would be on 8/16, when more APs are valid. In other words, you can almost certainly pull off the "trifecta," barring the dragon appearing in Fantasmic. And since so many APs are blocked on Saturday, I think you can probably do it even if the dragon is there.

Have a great time!

Correct. That building may be totally gone by the time you're there, but you've got the location down perfectly. If possible, try to sit back a little bit (depending on how easy it is for kids to see) and you've got that much of an advantage. When you come to GRR, turn right and you'll shave a little bit of time off your trek to the front entrance.
