We've had major problems booking flights for october 7th, no flights on the thursda, limited flights on the friday and hardly any flights coming back on the 23rd october. Any ideas??? Is it because of half term dates or what and does this mean the parks are going to be manic????:confused::confused::confused:

Only had a quick look but seems to be plenty available for them dates, Virgin from Gatwick £475, indirect Gatwick £416. Manchester £532 Virgin, £456 indirect.

It's also slap bang in the middle of some Scottish school holidays. I know that my Uncle, Aunt, Counsins are booked up for flying out on 8th October for 2 weeks anyway and they had to work around the October 2 week holiday in Scotland.

Hope you manage to find something reasonable.

We're flying ot on the 7th oct and our holidays in N scotland start the 8th so perhaps there are lots of people from scotland flying out early

I have always had this problem flying out of Scotland. October will be our FIRST time to fly to Orlando direct from our nearby airport (Glasgow). In the past I have just gone from Manchester.

I only got these flights because I decided to take DD out of school for the week before the holidays and leave on the 2nd. There are nowhere near enough flights from Scotland IMO. When you book a package trip 17 months ahead and are told there are only 2 seats on the return flight in economy, that indicates a small problem. Thomas cook signature had none (as usual from that date) and when Virgin opened the flights up in early November, they were snapped up very quickly. I wish they would put just ONE extra return flight on Glasgow routes over peak holiday times. Especially since they only fly out on precious few selected dates, everyone north of the border is hanging on and planning around the times when the flights are scheduled. Demand exceeds supply.

Have you looked at going with Thomas Cook or Thomsons? You go to Sanford, which may not suit you, but if you don't mind, they are a whole lot cheaper too - even if you upgrade to their premium cabin.

We have been October half term a few times, last year in particular, the parks were especially quiet. Good luck with finding your flights, where are you hoping to fly from?

Hi,

are you trying to book a package? You may find there are plenty of flights available, just not on the package operators sites yet. Virgin Atlantic seems particularly bad this year for releasing flights to be booked by Virgin Holidays!!

We went to a travel agent - they did the lot and price matched the cheaper online booking cost for us.

What are the dates for English scools half term? Or does it vary by county?

Around this area they are the week after OP wants to return, last week in Oct. Thats why I can't understand them having problems, lots of availabilty when I checked from either Manchester or London.
I looked for myself in the school hols yesterday and found flights at £370 indirect.

Depends how picky you are on your flights. We always find the same problem. Only want to fly direct, only want to go from Gatwick, only want to go on 23rd (or half-term saturday) only want to fly back the following saturday, only want to go to MCO (for DME) and only want to fly Virgin or BA. Yep that's why we book 18 months in advance when the package brochures come out.

This last trip we were very lucky. Realised after our February 2009 trip we could afford another the same year and started searching. No luck until four weeks before when flights with BA became available and we grabbed them.

Parks are usually quiet in October but not the weekend of Halloween, the 'locals' all come out in force and if New Jersey week hits at the same time the parks (especially MK) are heaving. Still a lovely tiem to visit though.

Just wish I didn't work in a school and could have more flexible dates.

We booked the flights, manchester to MCO, friday 8th. £600 each!!!:eek::eek: Its been a nightmare, there is 12 of us flying al together, only 8 of us got on the same flight!!!! And they were from gatwick not manchester, 2 thursday and 2 friday!!!! But now we've got them booked, lets hope its quiet when we get there. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Who did you end up booking with??

We for many years have flown PE out of Man but this year we are getting quoted PE prices for E seats, there are 6 of us in total and even flying ecomomy our flights will cost us more than the actual holiday itself which is 21 nights at SSR, free Disney Dining and 21 day ultimate ticket :confused3

You may have seen on my previous posts that I'm seriously thinking of cancelling this year, I just cant justify the cost :sad2:

:sad2: Sounds like a nightmare, plus £600 is expensive for October. Never mind though, at least you have the peace of mind that you've booked.

:thumbsup2

We've booked with virgin in the end, but you are right at least we've got the flights!!!! There is definitely something weird with virgin, somebody on another post has said the same!!!!????:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Is indirect or flying out of/into another airport not an option for you? Surely it would be better than cancelling. It looks like you have booked a great holiday. :thumbsup2 and it would be :sad2: to see you lose out by cancelling - only to find prices drop afterwards! How long before you start incurring proportionate cancellation fees? I would wait as long as possible to ensure that I didn't end up in that position.

Hiya, I've looked into London departures but the costs are pity much the same, I have even considered indirect flights but with 4 children 8, 7, 4 & 3 I think it may sound easier than it is :confused3. I also remember flying from Jamaica to Miami and then home some years ago now and to this day I 've never seen my luggage again :rolleyes1

Oh I'm praying for an October sale, Please !!!!!!!!!!!!
