I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

I applied for the Barclay's AA card and got the "we need to review" and then was denied. No idea why, credit score 820+, under 5/24 if that even matters. I do have the Barclay's HA card I got less than a year ago, but that's the only other card with them. Really annoyed.

Barclays has always been the most random issuer of credit cards in my experience. The last 3 personal/business cards I have opened with them I had to monkey branch my line of credit from the last card opened to the new one and each time they grilled me about not using the card often and recent inquiries. If there's one tip for Barclays it's never reduce your credit line chasing auto approval and always apply for a new one before you close out your biggest lines of credit; they love to do that credit line swap when they get finicky.

For those of you considering the safari next year, start monitoring flights now. I was able to snag 2 Premium seats on AF JFK to NBO for 130K + $643 in Aug. It's not lie flat, but I know I'll be very low on pts because I'm going to be scrounging for the Marriott pts and I also have a Europe trip in June. So this may be the best I can do. I'll continue to monitor for lie flat, but I figured premium was better than regular economy. Now I have to hope for a good deal on the return flight.
Qatar doesn't release J seats for summer travel at the normal calendar open. I booked our 4 J seats to Cape Town, SA in October when they released all their summer award tickets. I was able to book all 4 on the same flight with AA miles, 70K/ticket.

WF has a 25-50% up to $100 Entertainment Offer, DoC has a post.

Looking for Westin/Swan offer DPs. We've been discussing in the gc thread and it appears Westin offers are not triggered by Swan for purchases prior to arrival (but they do trigger Autograph offers lol). Does anyone know if purchases at the Swan trigger Westin offers?

This is good advice. Adding to that, I have found that if I put spend on an existing Barclay card before applying for another then I will get approved.

How much spend do you mean? A few small purchases or more significant?
I picked up the Wyndham business earner card last year and after meeting the MSR I put it away. I knew I’d be applying for the Aviator card or a Hawaiian card this month. So last month I started using the Wyndham card for gas since it earns 8x. I’ve done something similar each year I have had an Aviator business and plan to get a personal. A few purchases a month or so before applying for a new card. Ever since I started that I have not had to call recon.

Did you get a denial reason? Could just be identify verification. Or number of inquiries. How many inquiries have you had in the last 6 and 12 months on the credit report they pulled?

I'm trying to plan out my cards for the rest of the year.

My current stats are Me: 3/24 DH: 2/24

Currently I am working on an upgrade offer on my Amex Bonvoy card. My last card was the Barclays Aviator Red on 5/19/25. I got a CIC on 3/17/25 and I just have that one and a CIU open as far as chase Biz cards go, and I am floating about $5k on the CIC as I put the down payment on my car on there with the 12 mos no interest.
I last opened a CSP in 2022 and have a CSR currently that is an upgrade of my very first CSP back in Jan 2018. DH just did the CSP in April.

DH has the SW CP through the end of this year. I will be canceling his SW Biz card in the next month or two when the AF hits. We used up almost all our points on flights to DLR in November. I am thinking I want to go for the SW card and the current 100k offer so that we still have a card and get the free bags in November. And then I will hope for a new CP next year. Ugh, not sure on sticking with SW or not!

I'm also a big jetBlue fan and am low on points, so I applied for the JB Biz on Wednesday, but it is still under consideration. I am guessing the Aviator Red has something to do with that as I have only charged about $8 to it lol. I have been using my JB personal though because I have a spend offer on grocery/gas right now.

Anyway, I need a new card before the end of next week to put my homeowners insurance on. It doesn't look too hopeful for the JB Biz, and I want to wait until the end of the SW offer so I have a bigger window for the points to post next year for the CP.

I also have been thinking about our Amex cards, currently I have a personal Plat and DH has a Biz Plat. I took an upgrade offer in June last year (which I had just downgraded in March) My fee hit in January so I guess I have until then to decide what to do with it. DH took an upgrade offer on his Biz Gold in Nov 24 and it looks like we haven't paid a fee since the upgrade so will need to make a decision there soon. Between the two of us we have almost 500k MR points! I guess we need to start using them!

We do want to go to Japan sooner rather than later, but booking flights with points is overwhelming me on that end.

Anyway, that's my long rambly, "Help, what card should we get next!"

Quick question. I need to get a business card ASAP. Options are trying for the NLL Delta Gold Biz (I already have the card, and rarely use the miles, LOL). Hawaiian Biz, seems low (50k). but I know this is disappearing. Atmos Biz, (80k). Seems like it might be the way to go, but then again, does it matter the Hawaiian Biz is low, since it's disappearing?

WWYD?

The Hawaiian biz isn't going away. Link

I'd like to go for the Atmos biz, but I'm not confident about approval. Reports are they pull D&B biz reports. With a BoA deposit account, under 7/12 new accounts is supposed to be good, but with biz I'm above that.

No reason yet, the app said I'd be getting something in the mail. I did just buy a new car a few weeks ago, that could be it.

If it were me, I would do the Delta ( I am dying for NLL for that card, but I can't find one), but I use Delta miles as my main flight currency.

Here's my dp if it helps give you some courage. Instant approval. No deposit account/relationship. 1/12 personal accounts. 6/12 including biz.

Dd's (my) new Aspire card arrived, activated it and put $50 in my UTB! Next week I can do another $100 ($50 x 2 Aspires).

I am seriously hoping that SLH opens a luxury safari lodge somewhere in Africa soon (Kenya or Tanzania preferred, but I mustn't be picky LOL).

UGH annoyed. I applied for a Chase biz card and it was rejected for lack of biz ID. I called and said it was a sole-prop and they said it somehow got put in as an LLC even though I applied from my current account. They told me to just apply for a different card and that was just rejected for... too many applications.

So we will leave chase alone for now and try Amex. If DoC says the Hilton links are still NLL are they generally safe to use?

Well then, that throws a wrench, LOL. I see a link for an 85K offer on the Atmos, that ight be the front runner.

Doesn't Doc have reports of a NLL link? I haven't tried it. We can non-rev on Delta now, so I'm honestly banking those and no idea when/if I'll use them, LOL. I say they are my absolute back up plan for getting home when needed I guess, LOL.

I might just do the Alaska offer. I don't fly Alaska, but I do like AA miles. I guess I'll just have to figure out how that whole mess works, LOL.

Did you go for the Atmos biz because your Summit e-mail wasn't working? New e-mail went out last night if you're still interested.
