And yes I know, 2 different parks.

But next week we will staying at Pop and going to EPCOT and HS.

9/6 - EPCOT
9/7 - HS
9/8 - EPCOT

We are meeting people each day so adjusting park days isn't likely to happen.

I am willing to buy 1 single LL pass and am trying to decide if i want to do so for Rise of the Resistance at HS or Guardians of the Galaxy at EPCOT. I don't think we are going to be taking advantage of early access or rope dropping but I don't mind waiting in a bit of a line.

What I don't want to do is wait 90 minutes in the sun. So I guess my real question is which line has more sun time than the other? And 9/8 being a Monday, my assumption is way less crowds for Guardians.

This is closest thing to planning I'm doing this trip haha

Since you have 2 days at Epcot to hedge your bets on guardians with, I'd do the Rise LLSP. Rise is more unreliable in my experience and I can't think of anything worse than waiting an hour and the ride goes down before you hit the point where you're "on the ride" and aren't eligible for a recovery pass, unless they've changed how they handle recovery passes.

Yeah the more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards this. Especially because one of the days is a Monday.

For RotR, if single rider is an option for you (missing some of the pre show), I waited under 5 minutes seven out of the eight times I rode it the last couple weeks to get into the jail cell, the other time I waited 10 minutes.

2 family members were often in the same vehicle too

I might do this on a second riding at some point in this journey, but my wife has never been on it and I want her to see everything. Plus there's no way I'm not riding with her. But good tip.
No question... Rise.
Yeah, if i do get an LL, which I'm still not 100% sure i will, it will be for Rise.

Can you do Rise in the evening instead of the afternoon? On a recent visit, we found an 80 minute posted wait about an hour and a half before the park closed, but we were able to ride three times and still made it to Fantasmic. The wait time does drop significantly in the evening but the posted time will be inflated to discourage late riders.

Rise of the Resistance should be your Lightning Lane since Guardians of the Galaxy has a standby line that’s mostly indoors. Plus, you have TWO days in EPCOT so you could get it on either day. You’re only going to be in DHS for one day so I would get Rise on Lightning Lane.

For sure GoG. It's a much better ride and Rise often gets down to 30-40 mins during many days (late afternoon evening)...GoG is more popular.

So we will be at DHS on a Sunday evening, arriving around 7. My totally random checking of LLSP for ROTC shows availability after 7 every time I check. We have no other plans for that night besides Fantasmic. Do I really need LLSP? On a Sunday night in late September?

We went 2 weeks ago and didn't need one for either. We rode RotR once in the standby line and waited about 40 minutes, then came back later the same day and walked on in the single-rider line. At Epcot we rode Guardians once in the standby line and waited about an hour, then came back during EMH at the end of the night and waited about the same amount of time, but the ride had a breakdown that extended the wait, otherwise would have been on the ride in about 30 minutes. LSS - try and get a feel for the crowd level, but I don't think you'll need it of those wait times seem reasonable to you.
