My partner and myself are going to orlando on January 11th 2002 for 7 days and would like to hear from anyone about the nightlife in orlando around kissimmee and international drive. I am 30 and my partner is 25 and we are staying at the sheraton 4 points on route 192 in kissimmee so we are interested in going to clubs or bars for some fun and dancing. Any help is appreciated.

Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney (right off International Drive) is great and Church Street Station in Orlando is also fun. Kissimmee bars and clubs, I personally would avoid, there are some not so great areas of Kissimmee and if you are not familiar with the area you can wind up in an area that you definitely do not want to be in.

I agree with both of those. I love PI. One charge and quite a number of different styles of places to enjoy all in one nice walking area. There is just as much going on out in the streets as there is in the different clubs.

PI is a great place to start. You could probably go there every day of the week and not see all the shows at the comedy club, adventurers club, jazz, etc. It's open until 2:00 AM every night!

Click on the PI icon for the current schedule:

If you want to go every night, they also have an PI Annual pass ($58) which will save you $$$ over the daily admission price ($21).

There used to be another option on multi day tickets to PI. It was still available when I was there in September. For like $5 more over the one day price, you get either 5 or 7 days total. I don't remember all the details but for a week stay it would be a good idea.

I could be wrong, but isn't Church Street closed now? I wouldn't count on that one. Some people like City Walk. There you each club on an individual basis with varying covers. You can get a party pass to all, but I found out that they will sell you a pass even when the clubs are full.

drdelsol,

Looks like you are right. I hadn't been to Church Street in a number of years but just was going from memory. I did a quick internet search and it looks like the doors were pretty well closed back in July/Aug.

Wow, I did not realize Church Street closed either. I have not been there in about 3 years, once I discovered PI I was very content there and did not venture out anywhere else. Sorry for the outdated info.
Stick with PI, you will have a blast.

Church Street Station (with Rosie O'Gradys et al.) did close a couple months ago; however, there are still several clubs in the general Church Street/downtown area. More or less what you'd find in any city in terms of music/atmosphere/etc. Each generally has a separate cover (probably $5, give or take).

I still prefer Pleasure Island, but that's because I'm not really into the throbbing dance music.

Hope this helps,

Jason

Apart from PI the are still some other good clubs in Orlando, you just need to go a bit further afield.

Citiwalk at Universal is a lot of fun...through the end of this year they are having a concert series on Friday nights and I believe if you get there before 10pm you get a free PartyPass that allows you admission into all the clubs (unless they are having special events).

For country music fans, the club 8-Seconds can be found downtown.

At Pointe Orlando on I-Drive there are two fairly new clubs - Matrix and Metropolis which are being touted as the place "to see and be seen."

If you want to go where the tourists "aren't", I suggest "The Big Bamboo" which is on 192 (many cast members frequent that place). It's a bit of a dive, but loads of fun. Another popular spot is the Orlando Ale House at Lake Buena Vista (not I Drive).
