I'm really interested in checking out the AKL savannah at night! We will be visiting in about two weeks. Where and when do they have the night vision goggles available? I really don't know my way around AKL, so the more specific you can be, the better! Thanks!

It's been quite a while since we were there, but the night we used them a cast member was stationed behind the bonfire area which was just outside the back doors of the main lobby. The resort has gotten much bigger since then, hopefully someone will give you more up to date info. It is a beautiful resort, we really enjoyed our stay there.

It’s been a while since we’ve been there, but we were strolling around the grounds near the pool to look at the animals and cast members were there with night vision goggles. Just ask at the front desk where they’ll be.

Yeah, it was at the Uzima Overlook when we stayed at Jambo House back in April (which is still noted as the location on the current July Recreation Calendar).

The Uzima Overlook is near the pool and overlooks the Uzima Savannah. Definitely grab a resort map because it's not all that obvious where it is.

There weren't a ton of animals over there at night on the handful of times we tried it over the week, but it was still fun none-the-less.

Just thinking about that trip brings on such good vibes. Loved that place.

Have stayed at AKL twice and never done the night vision must check it out during our October stay

Go towards the Pool Bar and the hot tub, the pool will be on your right and you will see the overlook. There's usually just a cast member and a small table/stand with the night vision goggles.

Are you staying at AKL? This is for resort guests. When we stayed there last time they were very busy and were turning away those not staying at AKL. But if they aren’t busy it will probably be ok.

I think that you would enjoy just visiting the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo and Kidani just for the beauty of the resorts. I do this every December just because the resorts have their Christmas trees and Christmas lights set up.

Both resorts have the night vision goggles viewing every night.

Sundown until 10:00 pm  Night Vision Animal Viewing — Jambo House-Uzima Overlook;

Walk through the Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo front door in the Lobby and turn toward your right and you will enter one of the elevators. When in the elevator you may notice that the Lobby on the third floor. The second floor will take you to the bar and other areas such as the Arusha Savanna Overlook (near Main Lobby). This way does not include stairs for wheelchairs. But you want to hit the first-floor button. Exit and go through the doors past the Boma and Jiko restaurants out to the pool area . You will see the covered walkway leading to the pool. But you don't have to enter the pool area, you can follow the walkway to the left on the map along the resort rooms. Once you pass the outside pool bar area, you should see a sign for the Jacuzzi. Just make a left turn and go past the jacuzzi to the end and you will see a cast member with the night vision goggles.

Sundown until 10:00 pm Night Vision Animal Viewing — Kidani Village-Kidani Rock Overlook. But I like the one above better.

If you want to do other free stuff, look at one of the activities guides below that you can pick up at the front desk of the resort:
