Night shots w/ my digital camera

I'm having a terrible time getting used to this thing (but it's all I've got at this point). My night shots, especially of fireworks/Christmas lights all turn out really blech. I have a Nikon Coolpix 3200. Any ideas what settings I should be using for, say, MVMCP and Osborne lights?
