Night of Joy?

Oh man, you guys are SO lucky. I didn't know about this and I booked our family to go the third week in September, so there was just no chance for us...but I entered the KLOVE contest. LOL. Casting Crowns, the Newsboys (old sentimental favorites of mine) and Chris Tomlin are my absolute favorites. I hope one of you types up a trip report for we unfortunates that can't go.

The smaller stages usually are pretty crowd free. The Castle stage is usually jam packed.

Hey, anyone know what isn't open during NoJ?
I'm wondering so I know what to hit before then. ;)

Pretty much everything is open. Most, if not all of the rides are. The sit down restaurants are NOT though. Cosmic Ray's is for sure, but not sure about the other counter service places.

Thanks! I've got some first timers to WDW going with me and I wanted to make sure they knew if they wanted to ride something. :goodvibes

We did Rock the Universe over at Universal on Friday night. We have never done that before, always just NOJ. Anyway, we didn't like it at all! Don't like the way the had it set up and the crowds were ridiculous. I think them having only two bands going at one time is the main issue. But even the area that they perform isn't great. We couldn't get anywhere near Casting Crowns. We just sat on a bench and listened to them, which was still nice.

NOJ on Saturday was awesome! We were at the stage for newsboys, LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Got awesome pictures, which I will add here later.

Look, an announcement about next year already. Not sure how I feel about it being at MGM! I just LOVE the stage in front of the Castle!

Just Announced!
Not only have we confirmed Mercy Me, Toby Mac, Chris Tomlin, and Rush of Fools for next year, but we would also like to announce that Night of Joy 2008 will be held at Disney's Hollywood Studios!

Were did you read this? I'm sure how I feel about it either, but I can see where this might be a smart move.

ETA: Oh, nevermind. I found it here: www.nightofjoy.com

I guess since MGM has all those stages, but again, I worry that that will make it worse. At Universal, they had Mercy Me on a stage that was fairly open, so you didn't have a problem seeing them. Kind of like the stage in Fantasyland. It was a smaller area than Cinderella's stage.

Casting Crowns though were in an area that was closed in. So, once it was full, noone else was getting in. They had the whole other side with all these booths, so we had no chance at all to even see the stage or them. Didn't like that at all.

So, if they have someone on the Beauty and the Beast stage, I think it will end up that way, once it is full, no one else will be able to really get in there.

Not sure how I feel about it either. There is just something special about the castle stage. The big sorcerer's hat just won't be the same.

I think moving NOJ to MGM will make the crowd problem worse. MGM doesn't seem as big as MK, but the same amount of people will be wanting to go, I would think. Why did they decide to move it there? :confused3

That is anyone's guess. Maybe they get a lot of complaints about Magic Kingdom closing down so early.

Also, just thought about this, MGM has only a few rides!!! This, I think, will make it even worse crowd wise, as people will have only the concerts to do really. Not like with MK, there a lot of rides, so people are more spread out.

Ya know, my DH was trying to see two groups that played at the Galaxy Palace Theater on Saturday and he wasn't able to even get in. After that, He didn't even try for the one in Cosmic Rays... :(
He said, for someone who really likes the music, it's disappointing to not be able to see the bands. He's all for taking a group to WDW again, but maybe not NOJ. I think he'll give the new location a try though.
