I just read that the Night of Joy concerts are happening for Sept 9 to 11 and it looks like some big names in Christian music are performing. Normally the week after Labor Day has been an less crowded time for our family to go, do you think this weekend event will dramatically change that?

Hi, millettesinbend! This is when we go and we love it! NOJ has always been at the end of the week and we never noticed any real surge in crowds. This year, I understand, it starts one day sooner (Thursday instead of Friday) and we're hoping it won't make too much of a difference. Labor Day weekend is crazy but the rest of the week has always been just great!

I went by mistake and the crouds are HORRIBLE and they are the most unrully rude teen age crowds you will ever want to see. Smoking everywhere, swearing, cutting in lines all over the place, running, screaming etc.
It was the worst experience I have ever had in some 15 or more Disney trips.
Unless you are a part of a group going or really want to hear the music, [which is extremely loud all over the park since several groups are performing at once and all on loud speakers.] I would avoid the park like the plague on those nights.

Well we are locked into our vacation times. I tried to schedule it later in the month but the poly was booked and my heart is set on staying there so I really hope the crowds aren't too bad to deal with or at least well mannered!

I suggest you go to other parks on Night of Joy nights, besides you can't go to NOJ unless you buy a ticket to it.

We went to Night of Joy on our first trip. It was our first night, so I can't tell you how the parks were during the day, but after that day, the parks were empty. I don't think many people from the resorts go (yes, there are quite a few, but compared to the crowd as a whole). I think most of the people that go are teenagers from different youth groups around Florida. With that said, we were very disappointed in the crowds. We were mid-twenties then, and it was just my husband and myself. We didn't fit in well with the loud young teenagers. Michael W. Smith was there, though, and he's my favorite. So, Michael W. Smithin Walt Disney World couln't be any better. If you do choice to go, be prepared for a lot of teenagers that aren't well supervised.

After that night, I didn't notice crowds at all. I would guess that a lot of youth groups make day trip to Walt Disney World for the event, but don't stay for any length of time.

I agree, didn't notic people from resorts much mostly just large tour buses of teens. But avoid the noj! It was the worst experience and waste of money we have ever encountered on vacation! Just spend the day at epcot or mgm, etc... & FYI: universal also has there own version of the noj at the same weekend.
