I would love to bring my daughters to this! They would be 11 & 9. Has anyone been there, and what are your thoughts? (We do have two younger ones, 5 & 2 1/2, too young, I think.)

I took my DD a couple of times and loved it but we are huge fans of Christian rock music and went just to see the bands like Third Day and Jars of Clay. it was very crowded with a sea of teenagers everywhere but they were all well behaved.
If you like Christian rock music you should go but be prepared for long waits for the rides.

Long Waits!!?? Are there really that many people there! I figured I it wouldn't be that crowded. Not that I mind. Can't think of a better place for all those teens to be!:D

yes, it was packed. lots and lots of church groups with a gazillion teenagers everywhere. also, its a separate ticket event so order you tickets early.

Thank you, Metillcat, for your input! :D Funny, though, we can't be the only two DISer's interested in this event!

As a matter of fact, DD and I were talking about night of joy just today. she named some of the groups but I can't remember who is performing there and who is performing at Universals rock the universe. I think this year we are just going to wait and go for halloween. sure wish I could go for nights of joy though.

May I ask how old you DD is? Mine are 9 & 10. They really enjoy Christian contemporary. Our 10 yo wanted to see Jump5 while they were in town, but it happens to be the same day as her sisters ballet recital. :( This would more than make up for it! (And mom would have a great time, too! :smooth: )

DD is 21 exactly half my age. sometimes I wonder if shes not my clone or something because we love alot of the same things like music and are best buddies. people are always asking if we are sisters which is pretty neat on my part :D
DH sometimes comes along on our WDW trips but he just isn't into it like we are. (weird I know).
She and I are going in a couple of weeks for the star wars weekend (we both love star wars) and the Flower and Garden show to see the Turtles, Grass Roots, and Hermans Hermits. last year we saw Eddie Money at the flower/garden show and the year before that Duran Duran at the house of blues at downtown disney. we always try to plan around a good concert or event. I do believe your DD's will love Night of Joy if they enjoy the music. I thought it was so neat that they were playing Christian music even in the restrooms those nights and one of our favorite bands called Jars of Clay played in front of the castle. I got it on video and just might watch it again today. well, enough rambling. have fun! Linda 15 days until the Contemporary resort for 10 days YIPPEE! Rock n Rollercoaster here we come!

I am glad that others are interested in Night of Joy, too! DH and I were planning on attending, but I was afraid on how crowded it would be. I was thinking on going to Night of Joy on Friday night (my favorite band Jars of Clay is scheduled) and then going to Rock the Universe on Saturday night....just to try both of them. I have always wanted to attend, and this year our vacation just happens to start that weekend!

I have heard conflicting thoughts on the waits for the rides. Some say the waits aren't bad, and others say it is awful - we were planning on riding rides in between some of the performances, but may not if it is that busy!

I haven't purchased our tickets yet, but will be soon! Can't wait!

Jeleebeene, whats your favorite Jars of Clay song? mine is Liquid and Flood. DD and I met them once and they are the nicest group of guys. I had ask Dan if they planned on performing at NOJ again and he said they were and started asking me if we were from Orlando. I said no, but we really love NOJ and try to attend every year. apparently they love WDW too. (this was a few years back)
Another of my favorites is Third Day. once at NOJ they played after Jars (another area of the park) then Jars played again then Third Day again. we were actually running back and forth to see them. I also love, Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys, DC Talk and The Supertones too. have fun! Linda
"Arms nailed down, He wasn't broken for nothing" gives me chills everytime .

We have gone for several years. I never have seen so many teens in MK at any other time.

I have taken my church youth group to this for 4 years now. 1999- Night of Joy, Friday; 2000- Night of Joy, Friday; 2001- Night of Joy, Saturday; 2002- Rock the Universe, Friday.

I wil NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go on a Saturday again! The park was packed- waits of at least an hour for everything. Friday has always been ok, moderate wait times. A lot of people go on Saturday because going on Friday means taking the kids out of school early.

We do enjoy the bands. Most all of the rides are open. It has rained on us 3 of the past 4 years. That is usually prime hurricane time!

Metallicat -

Oh my, to choose just one favorite, I am not sure. I love Flood, The Valley Song and the 11th Hour. I also like Can't erase it and Liquid..and Collide...Revolution....ok, I'll stop, or I will just list an entire album :-)

DH and I had a chance to meet them a couple of months ago at Borders - they were promoting their new album, and they were singing albums as well. You are right, they are the nicest guys, and will just chat with you forever.

I also like Third Day, though I am not as familiar with their music, I can always tell when it is a Third Day song. I wanted to see Third Day, but they are playing Rock the Universe the same night as Jars of Clay is playing at Night of Joy - just can't be in two places at once, but wish I could!

Audio Adrenaline is scheduled to play on Saturday at Rock the Universe, which was one reason I wanted to go. Newsboys are good and I also like the Supertones.

Now I am singing that song in my head....

Arms nailed down, He didn't die for nothing.

Lisa, congratulations on your wedding! sounds like we will be there at the same time. we will be there may 16-25 at the contemporary. I will have a lime green ribbon on my backpack so if you spot me make sure and say hello. I have shoulder length brown hair and dd has long blonde hair. you should get you a set of mickey ears with the veil so everybody will know you were just married. have fun and have a wonderfull wedding. Linda

DH and I went to Night of Joy in 99-never again! I used to help run a church youth group but some of these kids-wow. It was a Saturday and it was packed. I have never seen the MK looking SO dirty. I felt really bad for the CM's that night. There was trash all over-soda bottles and cups floating in the water in JC and IASW, soda thrown all over the screens in HM! It was very sad. The clothes some of the girls were wearing I could not believe-Daisy Duke shorts all over, nasty T-shirts. I was shocked and I am from NY:) I guess I was a bit shocked since I figured these were "good kids." The worst sight of the night was outside HM though. I hesitate to even tell it but it just made me never want to go to this event again. There was a dirty tampon on TOP of the garbage can outside HM. I was so grossed out. :(

DH and I went to NOJ last year and had a blast. We went to see the performances and were not disappointed. It was an incredible feeling to be in the midst of thousands of people in front of the Castle singing along with Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Kirk Franklin and Jaci Velazquez.

Petra completely blew me away. I always thought they were just OK until I saw them live, now I'm a HUGE fan.

I'd love to go back this year to see Nicole C. Mullin, and DH is a big Jars of Clay fan.

The place was packed (sold out both nights) and waits for the rides esp. the big rides were long (45 min - 1 hour). However, you could walk on to most Fantasyland stuff though. It was no big deal for us, we weren't there to ride the rides anyway. Tons and tons of teenagers and pre-teens there, but I didn't notice any bad behavior.
