Have any of you seen or heard this before today?

Just doesn't sound good. I also heard over the weekend that other bands that have played at that club had used pyrotechnics. Of course, there are clubs that say the band had played at their club, used pyrotechnics, and did not get permission.

I feel for all the families involved.

It is very sad.
I imagine the nightclub owners have been told not to say anything from their lawyers. They are in big trouble and I'm sure they know it.

So sad :(

No matter what the band did (and I believe they did not tell the owners about the pyrotechnics), it should still be the responsibility of the owners to check everything out. Where were they when the band was setting up?

I have been watching this story unfold all weekend. It is so sad that they have turned such a tragic event into a finger pointing session. It started the morning after the fire when the lead singer said he had permission from the owners and they would never do anything without permission. I think the owners felt they had to respond to the accusations somehow. Unfortunately, no one has offered any help to the victims. Why didn't one of these 2 groups(band or owners) say "We will do whatever we can for any of the families involved." They both made themselves look very bad by covering their a**es and not offering to help. My heart goes out to evryone that has been affected by this needless tragedy.

Seems to be the way of the world any more.

Take no responsibility.

Blame others.

Or make excuses.

I see it more often than not.

This tragedy happened down the street from my house - not even 2 minutes away.

I agree with you all this has gotten a bit ridiculous with the finger pointing. I believe they (the group and the owners) are both at fault here. Pointing fingers is not going to make matters any better. Rhode Island state law is if a group is going to use pyrotechnics then BOTH the group and the club owners have to pull a permit and neither of them did that. That shows fault from both sides.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their families.

I think that the band and the club owners are quickly making an effort to cover their butts. You just know lawsuits are going to be filed against both of them, and criminal charges will be filed as well. That's the way of the world now. Forget about the human suffering and get right to the money.:(

Thanks, RIDISNEYLOVERS, for the info. I had not heard that both were responsible for getting the permit.

Whatever the outcome, the band did it and did not have a permit for it. It was their responsibility to follow the law, too. The owners are probably also at fault too but, since nobody has any witnessed conversations or other documentation, they can plead ignorance.

So sad...... so very, very sad.....

I also heard this morning that the band's manager wants to take a lie detector test to prove that he told the owners. Very interesting. I wonder if the owners will do the same thing

It's just a shame that the attention has gotten away from the 97 people who lost their lives. :(
