night before you leave question...

In order to avoid this we decided to work a short day on Friday and then fly at 8:00 pm Friday. We will land around 11:00 but hopefully the car rental and hotel check in will be dead and we will be in bed around 1:00, wake up a little late and enjoy an extra day at the parks. Just have a Red Bull that first morning, lol. :) There's always the possibility that we won't be able to sleep and will wake up early anyway.

In the past, we have always just started driving at midnight. Can't sleep, might as well drive. This year though, my parents are going so we will be leaving around 5:00am. They are morning people anyway so they will likely drive the first part and then DH or I can finish up.

When I take Tylenol PM, plain Benadryl or even Simply Sleep, I am always groggy in the morning. So I wouldn't recommend it, unless you've tried it before and know for sure that it does not do the same thing to you.

I would just suggest not making your first half day in Orlando a long one. Absolutely have a blast when you get there, but also make sure to get a decent night sleep that first night there. Because you just know you won't have slept a wink the previous night.;)

We went last month and were packing until 2 am. The car to the airport came at 5 am, so there wasn't a lot of sleep involved.

Unlike some I can sleep on planes very easily (on business trips I'm usually asleep before we leave the runway), but I discovered that doesn't work so well when traveling with kids. The only way out was to make the first day low-key and call it a night early so we could get a fresh start on the first full day, especially since it meant 6:45 am wakeup calls to get to the parks early.

Whatever happens, have a great time!:cheer2:

yeah that's my story on monday too. I have to get up at 2:30am to catch my 5:30 plane to WDW. I am considering taking nyquil as I know my body's reaction to it but I probably wont because I'm scared I will be too groggy. I just hope I can sleep on the plane.
