Would you get your hotel room a day early, like the night before just to avoid traffic driving to DLR on a Monday morning? Do you think it's worth the $146 bucks or whatever it would cost to avoid the traffic and stress and to get to the parks at opening?

Let me know what you would do. THanks!

We just switched our plans for our October trip so that we'd arrive the night before. It'll be an extra $200 split between 2, but it's worth it to us for the following reasons:

We'll get a better night's rest, so we'll feel refreshed for our first day in the parks.

It's the only way we can get to the park in time for opening.

We can go shopping at DTD our first night to get our Disney fix.

We won't have to wake up at some god-awful hour and drag around the parks exhausted for the rest of the day.

A good night's rest automatically puts me in a better mood, which means I'll have a better day.

Yes, it's totally worth it. You can get situated in your hotel, go for a swim/hot tub the night before, get a good night's sleep, and then be at the Park right when it opens!

We were "forced" into an additional night (Sunday)! :goodvibes Hawaiian cancelled the Monday am flight and I did NOT want to lose a day in the parks. HA said they could only give us seats for the Monday afternoon flight but I spoke with a really nice girl and she changed us over to the Sunday morning flight (N/C) so I'm a happy little camper now. One more day at DL and one more night at GC! :thumbsup2 (ps: my hubbie thinks I made up the HA story so I could get another day in .... :rolleyes1)

It would be worth it to me. Traffic is horrible on a weekday and you can get a fresh start. We have left my sister's house, about an hour away, to get there 8am. When you think about how early you have to get up so you can arrive at the parking lot at 7am, you realize you loose a lot of sleep. It is much nicer to be there already. Our family of 4 sharing one bathroom had to get up at 4 in the morning so everyone had time to get ready!

I would agree. Avoiding the traffic is so totally worth the extra money. When we drive, we come in to Anaheim on a Sunday afternoon to avoid traffic. The other things are just gravy.

ive thought about doing this for my nov trip not sure we can but it would be worth it

Wow, 4am is Crazy!

We usually drive the night before and hit the shops that night. Then wake up the next day ready for an all day Disney Experience!!! :cool1:

Are you flying in to LAX? If you are...I would do my best to avoid the traffic. We flew in to LAX once...and we'll never do it again! The traffic was crazy. Flying in to SNA is worth any extra cost! No traffic, smaller/nicer airport...love it!

We have decided to come the night before for our trip in Sept, I think the rest and decompression time will be well worth it. Have some time to ensure all is as it should be for a magical trip!!

Well, when you say "traffic," which traffic? Where are you driving in from? Also, when you say "Monday morning," what time?

I you have to come through downtown LA, on a Monday morning, not a chance. That wouldd be worth $146, without question (although, at 4am, there isn't any traffic yet - so..., what time are you thinking?).

It depends, sometimes it's worth it sometimes it's not for us. This weekend no, it won't be worth it so it won't happen. If we go next month it might be worth it, we really just play it by ear and see what happens. It really varies family to family tho.

Kauinohea is sooooo right, LAX to DL is horrible to drive. Problem is we used to fly Aloha in to SNA but :sad1: ... so now we fly HA into LAX and either get a limo (with the family) or a smaller car (with driver) for DH and I. There's no way were driving those roads again!!! :scared1:

Sorry, forgot to give the background. We are actually flying into LAX on Hawaiian on Wed. morning, driving to Mission Viejo for DH's nephew's graduation. Spending some time with them in Mission Viejo and then going to DLR. So we'll be leaving Mission Viejo to head to DLR. We'll be there for 3 days, DH, me and DD2 (Mon - Wed).

Not sure if that changes things, since I'm driving from Mission Viejo instead of LAX.

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate it. I haven't mentioned this new thought to DH yet, but I wanted to get your opinion's first.

Thanks again!!
