Many Many prayers being sent, every time I get on Disboards this is the first thread I check, thank you for keeping us updated.

Please pray for my six year old niece, Bella. She was admitted to the hospital on Monday. Her kidneys were shutting down and her adrenal glands were not functioning. At this time it was determined she was suffering from septicemia. Since then, she has went into respiratory distress. The doctors were initially able to get this under control. However, later her lung collapsed. On Tuesday, she underwent surgery for an abscess in her foot. The doctors discovered she has MRSA and had to cut from her ankle to just below her knee to drain the infection. On Wednesday, Bella was diagnosed with meningitis. Her heart is not functioning properly and she has fluid in her heart. And, the MRSA is now in her ankle and leg bone that the surgery was performed on.

Keeping Bella in my thoughts. I don't understand how all these separate things occured. Did it initially start with an abscess? Did she progress fast into renal failure? How did the doctors not catch it way before the situation progressed to this? Also, did they discover the MRSA during the surgery for the abscess?

You're not the only one wondering this.

My heart goes out to any child who's sick and/or in pain. They shouldn't have to suffer like that.

Bella had heart surgery last night to remove the hardened fluid around her heart. The surgery went well. She is currently being kept in a "paralyzed" state so she will not feel the pain associated with the many surgeries she has had over the past few days. Prior to having heart surgery, she was moved to another hospital. Her new doctors changed her medication so we are hopeful she will begin to improve. Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for Bella.

I realized I neglected to update from Sunday's surgery. I'm sorry. The surgery on her thigh, arm and back were successful as well.
