Nicknames and Birth Certificates

I voted for formal names. At one hospital I worked at, I used to help out with the birth certificates from time to time and I always thought that the more formal names were better. Johnny might be cute when he is young, but will Johnny be taken serious when he is the CEO and not names Johnathan?
