Will DCL print an alternate name on a cruise card by request? Or only the booked name? My daughter doesn't go by her given name.

The cards are pre-printed before you get on board the ship using the info from your booking.

You can ask at Guest Services, which is where you'd go to get a new card. I don't know if they'll do it, but it doesn't hurt to ask!

I suspect you have to go with her legal name since this is what gets you on and off the ship and probably has to match all the records and the background check they did under her legal name with Homeland Security and on the ship's manifest.

My parents chose to not call me by my given name so I have dealt with this for 65 years. The medical group my Doctors belong to added a "Prefers to be called" field to their records, and to me honest, it makes things more confusing because not everyone looks down at that field so I have to listen for both my given name and the name I go by.

Maybe you could write her nickname on with a Sharpie? There is usually space enough you could do this, especially with a fine tip pen. I do think they need her formal name on the card to match how she is booked - for the manifest, for the kids' club, for check-in and reboarding in ports, etc. and therefore will not reprint it with a different name (especially one that wouldn't connect back to the given name).

Don’t think they will let it would have to match your birth certificate or passport for when you get off. Some ports check both . Heck you have to take I’d off at castaway cay.

I don’t go by my given name either .

My nickname is a shorten version of my given name. I hate my given. DCL calls me by my given name. I don't care or correct them. Through the years I've learned that it just isn't that big of a deal.

No, this is used not just as a way to open your door, but to identify you. Your legal name is on there and when they scan it, like when you get on and off of the ship, your picture and official name pops up. Having a different name on your key card can cause confusion.

Do they print middle names on cards if that info is provided on the reservation?
