We stayed at the Holiday Inn version Nick Hotel in December. Food was a big problem in the 'restaraunt'... but they did have a food court.

My biggest disapointment was in not knowing there were TWO Nick Hotels!! This one had two waterpark type pools and some occasionally scheduled shows. It was huge, you had to wear a wristband the whole time you were there and they closed the pool with no warning because 'they' thought it was too cold. It was okay... but I had thought we were going to the other Nick hotel where they film all the shows for Nick Jr. My DS was SO disappointed! If your kids are younger they might think it was okay but if they are 8+ be sure you get the one near Universal Studios.

Did not know there were 2 nick hotels :confused3 Sorry to hear about the food problems. :earseek:

I don't think there is two hotels. NIck is the one an only as far as I have read. The d food was fine for us. A lttle problem at A&W ( food cold)...But other wise the food was fine.
Can someone tell me where this second Nick is? We stayed at the one in the Commericals.....Where was your Hotel located?
We are planning on going back in 2008 and stay after a cruise.....Kids would just go to the NIck. but Us old people want to cruise...so we are going to do both and keep all of us happy......
You will have a great time at this Hotel,
Carla

Where is the other Nick hotel? I thought there was only one "Nick Hotel"- the Nickelodeon Family Suites Holiday Inn in Orlando?

There is only 1 Nickelodeon themed hotel for now. Whether or not it stays that way who knows but for sure it is the only one out there currently.

As for filming they have done some filming there in the past.

A friend of mine and a bunch if her extended family stayed there in September 2005 for 1 night. They were supposed to stay all week, but they all hated it! She said it was VERY loud and the suites were a joke. They were very disappointed because they were really looking forward to staying there. She said they ended up switching to the AKL.

great hotel for kids - best pool !!!

not so great for adults - expensive, crowded, loud, mediocore food

Well, I'll be there Saturday night giving it a chance. Only staying one night because we own DVC, but it's all my little girl talks about from seeing all of the commercials! So I told her we'd go check it out.

Our DD's loved staying there, we were very pleased with our rooms, the hotel and food. Planning another trip for June! :Pinkbounc

We were there for the week of New Years. The rooms are very quiet, food was good and we all enjoyed our stay! Even my 82 yr old father had a great time. He was in one of the games when my kids participated in a show. We all had fun at the Spongebob Christmas show!
Nick Jr. month is in Sept. Maybe you had seen pictures of that? Blues clue, Joe etc? Different months have different themes.

Well, I guess I missunderstood. When we checked in I asked if this was where they filmed the live shows and they told us no "that was at the one over by Universal". We understood that to mean there were two hotels. Now after looking again at several sites I guess what he must have meant was at Universal in LA. ?? Well I am easily confused but we said we didn't know there were two and he shook his head sadly. I sure would have felt better if he had been more clear what he meant. I just thought I had booked the wrong hotel. :confused3

We thought the room was great. We had a one bedroom and it was very nice. But it was hard to get to our room it was a LONG walk from both of the closest elevators and stairs.

When we checked in they told us the pool didn't close until 10 or 11 and when we got down to swim before 9 they said the pool was closed because it was too cold. Granted it was December, but it didn't seem that cold to us having come from snow and real cold.

The whole night was sad for DS because we checked in after the 'show' had already started so we missed that, and then the closed the pool but he did like the arcade. We went to the sit down restaraunt for the buffet which was just okay... but maybe we hit a bad night.

Of course we only stayed one night but most of their entertainment was late afternoon early evening so it wouldn't have worked for us on a park day anyway... maybe if you had a off day and just did that hotel it would be okay.

Sorry to be negative... guess I'm just spoiled by Disney... which IMHO this hotel definitely was not!

HI!
TV shows used to be filmed at Nick Studios which was inside the Universal Theme park. Do you remember the game shows? Double Dare, Guts Etc. They stopped filming those along time ago. Then they did nick games with audience participation and sliming. The nick studio at Universal closed when the Holiday Inn became Nick Hotel.

Hi. :goodvibes

Stayed at Nick hotel for 5 (yes FIVE! :guilty: ) nights in November after our Disney cruise. Let's just say it was a place to sleep and not much more.....although I did appreciate having a mini fridge and microwave but that's about it! We ventured out to Disney or universal every day and night. The Nick hotel was cheezy, smoke filled, dirty and crowded! LOUD , LOUD, and LOUDER! :sad2:

We took the stairs everytime to our room which was fine.....but only because I couldn't stand the grungy, smokey, filthy elevators!

There are MANY other places to stay on and off Disney property that would be better! Don't let the "Nick" theming grab you and you $$$$$! :stir:
