Nickelodeon Studios closed

Nick Studios closed yesterday (April 30). They did their last show yesterday. Still no concrete news on what the building wil be used for.

It's sad to see another staple of the park go, but it was just a waste of space the last few years. They made it obvious that they didn't want to actually film anything there anymore. I'm hoping the office rumor is false. It should be an attraction.

I agree that it is sad to see it go but not in its present state. Years ago my kids were picked at the studios and they were contestants in a game. They had a ball! Right after that it was the last we found of anything going on in that building. What a shame. I pray that offices are not whats going to happen to it!

My son got a chance to watch Keenan and Kel rehearse for "All That" when they were still with the show. He was very excited about that and to sit on the "couch". This was in 1997 though.

Are you talking about the area where they did the kids pretend "Nick" shows? My kids got picked to be in it last year and loved it. Why did they stop it, it was packed when we went.

Yes, it is just the Nick building and not Jimmy Neutron or anything although the small Nick store closed also. Nick made a contract with Universal in early 90's . Newer contracts were related to characters and Jimmy Neutron the ride and they are not effected.


The other contracts are much newer and do not include the building since it had a different contract. That simply means that the new contracts will allow Universal full access to characters, Jimmy Neutron, and Nick merchandise.

It was a business decision. I don't know if Nick decided not to extend or Universal made the decision. Nick is owned by CBS and Universal is owned by NBC. Maybe Nick just decided to put all their energy and shows into the new Nick Hotel that is just opening up in Orlando.

Anyway, it is just like Disney breaking ties with MGM, strictly business.

I guess I'd better head over to Belz and the Universal Outlet so I can get a Nick Studios t-shirt while they still have them.

All the painted signs are still there but the entrance sign and wait time sign was gone from over the queue. There is also a rope up near the Nick mini-store so you couldn't go past there.

It's sad. I did a few things for Nickelodeon when I was a kid, I was first on the game show "Outta Here" with dozens of other kids, I was an extra for an episode of "Welcome Freshmen" and my middle school band did a song for a Nick commerical.

It was a loooong time ago, but it's still fond memories

My daughter was a contestant on "Legends of the Hidden Temple" (Lost in the second round), and "Secrets of the Cryptkeeper's Haunted House" (She and her friend won that one!).

I did this show when I was there April 16, and it was a pretty lame attempt compared to what I imaged from seeing it on tv when i was little. i think its a good idea they are closing it, and instead should make another attraction, perhaps based on a nickelodeon show- maybe spongebob since that is so popular now.
