Someone please let me know about the Nickelodeon Hotel. We will be going in Oct. with a group of 4 adults and 7 children that range in age from 7-14. Tell me about the rooms, pools, how far a walk from area to area, ect... and how busy do you think it will be on a Sat. night the end of Oct. We will be staying only one night then going to OKW for the rest of the week. Just want to know what it is like. It looks really cool. I did request either building 5 or 1 because those are the rooms by the Oasis pool which looks like the pool with the slides. Is this correct or should I change my request to a different area?

We were just there the end of June for 6 nights. 2 adults & 3 kids (2 girls & 1 boy) between the ages of 5 & 8. We got a 2 bedroom suite (with bunk beds) & stayed on the lagoon side (our room overlooked the lagoon pool).

The Lagoon pool is the more popular pool & seems geared more towards the 5 and up age range. If you're going to request a specific room location, given the ages of the kids you have with you, I'd definately request a room by the Lagoon pool instead & change your initial Oasis pool room request. We looked at the Oasis pool but it seemed like it was geared more towards the 5 & under crowd. The kids weren't interested in it & just wanted to stay at the Lagoon pool the whole time.

I've read a lot of mixed reviews about this hotel. I have to say the kids all LOVED it. My husband & I were really happy with it as well. The kids liked it so much they want to go back & only go to the hotel. They liked the hotel better than Disney even. One day I took our 2 girls to our princess lunch at Epcot & my step son chose to stay at the hotel & passed on Disney.

The breakfast buffet is a great deal & honestly, they don't care if you bring extra food back to your room. Our kids are super picky (okay, I am, too LOL) and we still were able to easily find things for them to eat at the buffet. We rented a mini-van so we went out to some of the area restaurants as well as our Disney meals.

I will say that I did ask to have our room moved after the first night. We had an end room right next to an elevator on the 2nd floor (building 11). I'm a very light sleeper & while I realize you'll hear other people in any hotel, when you are right next to an elevator, you hear everyone coming & going since they all have to pass right by your room. I know my mom has mentioned having the same problem at other hotels while on travel with work. Rooms right next to the elevator can be noisy in any hotel. They moved us to a 5th floor room (building 8) in the middle over looking the pool. It was not a problem to switch rooms in the least. They were super nice about it & even sent someone up to help us move our stuff. After the room switch, there were no other problems.

The 2 bedroom suites have different sized bathrooms. I don't know why some are different. The 1st room we were on the 2nd floor in had a huge bathroom, the 2nd room on the 5th floor's bathroom wasn't quite as large but really it's big enough.

You can rent out a cabana at the lagoon pool for either 4 or 8 hours & I so recommend it. We rented 1 of them for 4 hours 1 day around lunch time. So we were able to relax in the shade while the kids were in the pool, had a few fruity drinks & we all ate lunch out there. It gives you some shade, a tv to watch, extra comfy recliner chairs, has a play station but the kids were more into the pool & they bring you all the towels, drinks & food you'd like. It's a good idea if you're planning to spend an afternoon or evening pool side. I think it's about $150 for 4 hours. Not the cheapest but we really enjoyed the time & felt it was worth it. The food & drinks aren't included in that price. They also offer massages for the adults out there. We each got 1 for I think $25 a piece. The staff was super nice & made sure we had everything we needed at the cabana. I also liked that while it's a busy pool, it was never too crowded (I'm easily put off when things get too crowded) & felt it was extremely well supervised with lifeguards.

They also have a Nick at Nite thing where you can drop the kids off. It's from 5 to 11. They get dinner, a live show, a movie & other stuff to keep them busy. Another part that wasn't the cheapest ($60 for the 1st kid & $50 for each additional kid) but it did include dinner & after a few nights, a few hours away from our crew was needed. :)

Really, that applied all over the hotel. The staff was great. Expedia screwed up our Disney tickets badly (we paid for them in advance but when we arrived at the hotel with our vouchers, there were no tickets for us, to the point where we had to go buy our tickets all over again while we were there & spent over 3 hrs on the phone with Expedia to get them to refund us for the original tickets we bought & finally got the refund, a month later) & they were a huge help in dealing with them. Everyone is very friendly & it's a very family friendly hotel. Honestly, we're seriously considering going back to Orlando & just staying at the hotel as our whole trip.

P.S. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask away. We arrived on a Sat night & left on a Friday afternoon.
