Is it worth it to stay there for a few nights?
I bought some $100 gift cards from travelocity for $50 and when I was looking through the list of hotels Nick Hotel was one of them. I can get it for $317 after my $100 off $217 for 3 nights!!
I looked at the hotel site and my same dates for the same room would be $654!!
This would be for their standard king suite with bunk beds.
My dd's are 17, 15 and 11. They are outgrown Nick, except for the teen shows. We are going late Aug so all the parks (seaworld, universal and IOA) all close around 7-8pm. I was thinking the Nick hotel would be a good place to go since they can use the water park. Thoughts??

becareful of hidden fees my cousin found a few extra things on her bill upon check out that they didn't mention like resort fees and etc. just double check the small print :thumbsup2

I'd ask the kids what they want to do.

I just asked my kid (12) Nick or Plush? Answer Nick.

I have never met a kid that didn't like the Nick, rents yes, some hate it, kids love it.

I enjoy the white trashyness of the place it makes me laugh, and going isn't going away all about having fun?

Check the nick website and look at there current offers for August and compare w/ travelocity. They had a special when I was going in May for $99 a night w/ resort fee's for the girl scouts annual event. I think the resort fee for Nick is 25$ a day, but if you book directly the total is included in the taxes and fees.

I checked travelocity and it states:

This hotel charges guests one or more mandatory hotel charges. By way of example, these could include one or more of the following: resort fees, resort service charges, energy fees or surcharges, safe fees, safe warranty charges, or transportation fees.

Skip it, you r kids are older and they wont care, the water slides are fairly small and not much else to do. Its a trashy motel 6 type place with some nick characters slapped on it. We stayed in Oct 2009 for two nights . My kids were 6 and 3. They were bored after the 2nd day and we ended up buying another day to our disney tickets. Would NEVER return here at all!!!

IDK since your kids are a lot older than mine, but we stayed there the night we arrived in Orlando in Oct. 2010, then stayed at Pop for 10 nights. With all we did at Disney and everything, DD still talks about that ONE night at the Nick hotel! LOL I wasn't impressed with it, but I didn't find it to be dirty, have bed bugs or anything that I see so many posting about either. DD always says when we go back, she wants to stay there instead of Disney! :( LOL

We stayed there two weeks ago before we moved to the Poly just because my daughter loves Spongebob and iCarly. She absolutely loved it but she is only 7 I don't know if this hotel offers much for older kids.
Our room was clean (and after I'd read all those bad reviews I checked thoroughly) and the staff was friendly (the hotel wasn't even half full).
Opposite to a Disney hotel, I wouldn't ever stay there without kids but I enjoyed watching my daughter enjoying herself.

Question - If you get there early, can you do early check in and use the resort until your room is ready? We are thinking of driving, and one scenario puts us arriving in Orlando at 9:30 am or so. Since the kids would sleep in the car, they'd be raring to go and I could find DH a nice lounge chair in the shade to rest until the room was ready? DS#2 (10) has been asking to stay there and I'd add an extra day onto the beginning of our trip if we could make it work!

what are these gift cards...? how do they work?

Gift cards were from tippr(.com?) I got it from a friend thruogh facebook. They were $100 for $50 an offer that only lasted a day or two.
I have to book the hotel through travelocity Incentives
