Wow! What time of the year did you go there? We do have Disney tickets for both of our days at the Nick hotel so if it doesn't work out at least we can go to Disney parks!

Did you do the night shows? Are they worth the time?

we were there in may and they said it was just broken.. all roped off, had to just swim.. we had 3 days in sea world and pd $10 extra to have it right outside my door, but we went to brkfst and they were handing out flyers about it closed.. very disapp. no shows i think had to register before came check-in..did see blue in food ct lobby and sponge.. dh hated it with a passion but son loved it..the pool accidents were plenty they close for couple hours then reopen..dont know how they clean it but ds got really sick in middle of night needed the maid 3 times she was great kept changing the sheets..

We were just there at the end of April (29th - 1st). All slides and pools were open. My boys loved the hotel, but my DH and I were not impressed. My husband I summed up the hotel by saying that it is a great idea, just poor execution.

The main pool was really crowded, so if you want a lounge chair, plan on getting to the pool early. Overall, the staff was not very friendly and the life guards were very quick to "yell" at people. We didn't go to any of the shows at night so I can't comment on those.

I was there at the middle of April, the 17th-20th. I wasn't expecting much, but was very impressed. The woman checking me in was very pleasant. I think the fact that I didn't get upset with the resort fee ($78.xx for 3 nights) that she gave me a choice of themes. We ended up with Room 1319, which was a corner unit and was facing the parking lot. However the pool was directly behind our unit, so very convenient.

I never found the pools crowded, but we arrived every morning by 10:00. If you got there after 11:00 or so I could see a problem in getting a spot. It was never very crowded and the lifeguards were great.

Also I didn't think the buffet (non-character) was very expensive and the kids actually asked to go in the morning. The Pizza Hut/Burger place was also very reasonable but took forever.

We didn't get to do the shows at night as we were just exhausted, but I did buy my dd12 the unlimited 4d movie braclet ($12.xx) for unlimited movies or $6.xx for one movie. Be warned, the movies are actually only 15-20 minutes long.

Finally I was very impressed with the condition of the room. My king size bed was soooo comfortable and it was very nice to not have to share a bed with anyone!

If you have any other questions please ask.

Maybe, maybe not. We went last year for two nights before our 6 night trip to onsite resort in Disney. Lets just say it took a bit to get used to, it was alot of lugging around luggage in a slow elevator and just an aggravating first day. Second day much much better and lets just say the resort grew on me. My husband wanted to go to Disney a day early but we werent able to get free dining for the other night so decided to stay. My kids ages 5 & 7 liked it but they werent jumping out of their skin the whole day to stay in the pool all day. We did spend a good portion of the morning and early afternoon so they got their fill. Shockingly my 7 year old said she would have rather went to disney early than stay the two nights but every kid is different. We did not eat our dinners at the resort, felt it was way too much money and didnt like the cafeteria style atmosphere when we can drive a mile or two and get something for the same money or less and better quality food elsewhere. We went to Texas Roadhouse both nights and had a great dinner. We did eat a small lunch (pizza hut) at the resort or breakfast sandwiches. Glad i went to experience it but probably wouldnt go back, it is mainly for the kids. Be sure to bring whatever snacks you need beforehand. I forgot to bring my granola bars and it wound up costing me $2.00 for a single pack when i could have bought a whole box for $2.50 at the grocery store so think ahead.

thanks for all of your input! I'm wondering if we should try and just stay one night and not the two that we originally planned? I just hope my son is not disappointed. I know this stay isn't for me so I'm not expecting much more than a place to sleep.
How is the character breakfast if anyone tried it?

Stayed 1 night in Feb. before checking into POFQ. The room itself was nice and the waterpark was okay. DD loved it, but for the price I wasn't impressed. I was glad to move on POFQ but DD wasn't! :rotfl2:

On thing we found is the scheduled activities on the sheet given out at check-in didn't happen twice. We'd show up with other guests and nobody from the hotel would show up.

If you dont have alot of luggage then I say go for the one night but i will say i was worn out because we had so much stuff to bring to our room. On our
2nd day it was much better because i could just relax. Also the only problem with 1 night is if it is raining you lose out on pool time which also happened to us on our first day, the kids actually didnt get to use the waterpark until 8:00 that night until it stopped thunderstorming. Next day was beautiful lucky for us.

I get the impression that this hotel tends to be popular with kids and not so much with parents! I read recently that this place has been wildly popular though so this thread caught my eye.

We stayed for 4 nights last October. My 4 yr old dd was convinced she had to stay there after the zillions of commercials on the Nick Channel. I got a great deal on travelocity $89 for a 1 bedroom suite (price is before taxes and extra special fees). Our AP's had expired for Disney so we opted to do Sea World only this short trip and a MNSSHP. We checked in on a Sat and out on a Wed.

Room- okay, very small compared to DVC 1 bedrooms, extra small bathroom. Clean, nothing broke. No oven in the kitchen area. Sleeper sofa was so hard the 2 teens just sleep on the floor. The bed in the master was comfty but the room itself...very small.

Grounds- clean and well kept.

The pool- all areas open on the weekend, on Monday however the area we were in...the slides were not open so we had to go to the main area for the slides. If you look at a map of the resort you will see what I am referring to.
The slides had a height requirement of I believe 40 inches. My almost 3 yr old was less than happy that she could not enjoy the big slides. The pool was clean and experiences to premature clsoings due to accidents.:rolleyes1

Activites- We really enjoyed Nick or treating during the weekend during our stay. It was free and even my teens dressed up with the items provided by the resort.

We did not do the character meals. I had read way to many negative reviews to pay $$ and not like it. The girls were able to meet the characters with no $ around the resort.

Summary- Would we stay there again? Yes, with a good rate. There is no way I would pay rack rate or anything close to it for the Nick Hotel. I would not stay there during peak tourist months with small children. They would be overwhelmed with the older kids and tweens running around with minimal supervision. My dd who is now 5 constantly asks whena re we going back. We will probably go back in the next yr or so during a low period and no expectations of heavy theme park touring. And a great rate!

My kids have been negging me to take them here also after all of the advertisements they see on Nick Channel. I think if you had a day or 2 with no park tour plans, this may be a nice stay. Don't think I would want to stay here for extended time and it seems that if you will be away at parks all day then it would be a waste to stay here...:confused3

I am checking out Lake Buena Vista resort village and spa...or even Regal Sun Resort. They both look like they have a very fun pool for the kids and decent rooms for the parents ;)

Please come back and let us know if you decided to stay at Nick Hotel and tell us how it was...
Have a fun trip!!

We have the nick hotel booked for 4 nights next week...I have become terrified that it is going to be awful....we booked several months ago, it was still winter-most reviews were ok, over the last month people have been posting some extremely awful reviews on tripadvisor. I am almost to the point of reducing my stay and booking another hotel for some of the nights just incase!

We stayed there in November after getting off the Disney Cruise, and we were only there 1 night. My DD5 loved seeing the characters and my DD8 loved the slides and the pool. But we had a similar experience as a poster previously said. My DD8 woke up in the middle of the night so sick that we had to use every towel and sheet in the place to get through to the morning, even the next day when we were supposed to fly home we had to stay in Orlando another day and postpone our flights. Needless to say we switched over to SSR,since we are DVC members, for another night. I have never seen my little guy so sick he didn't get out of bed except to use the facilites for 24 hours straight.

So the moral of the story is watch out for how clean the pool is.

My kids liked the show they had in the evening it was cute, (we only went to the free one) The food was not very good. It was definitely a place for the kids not the adults. Now I tell my kids we experienced it once and that is enough back to the disney properties.

I know when we were there last there was a small child vomitting at the bottom of the waterslide, i do have to say it had me real nervous.

I would say maybe have a backup plan just incase and if you can get a place that has a 24-48 hour cancel policy. You may either love it or hate it or be somewhere in between you just dont know until you get there. Plus first days are always tough between lugging around luggage, bad weather, etc..... see how you feel the second day you may change you mind like i did.

After reading some of the rewiews here I'm going online to see if I can book another Disney location for our last two days! Maybe a deluxe instead of a moderate.

Have friends who have been and after hearing what they have to say, I think this might be a good idea. Maybe even a Universal hotel? You can see some of the Nick characters at Universal, and with staying at a Universal hotel, you can use all the pools at each of the 3 resorts, very nice pools!
