we are staying at the buena vista suites for 6 nights next month. we're spending everyday at disney, however the kids would like to go see the nick characters as well.

called the nick hotel for pricing on their character breakfast but was told that you have to be staying at their hotel in order to eat at their restaurants.

anybody know if that's true or is there a way around it?

if not, if we just drove over there one day would we have much of a shot of seeing any of the characters in the lobby?

thanks,

Yes, it's true. When you check in, they give everyone in the party hospital bracelets that you have to wear the ENTIRE trip! (ugh)

It gets you into the pools, too.

If you don't have one, or lose it, they make you pay. Ridiculous, if you ask me. The character breakfast was a nightmare anyway - you're probably better off skipping it - MASS chaos, mediocre food, bad character interaction.

You need a room key to get into the parking lot, even. But if you COULD get to the foodcourt area, you still wouldn't see the characters - they stay in the restaurant and only come through a particular set of doors. They aren't as interactive as Disney characters either. :(

Can you tell we were MAJORLY disappointed in the Nick Hotel? :(

hum, just made reservations for the breakfast. so it wasnt worth it? we are really not big breakfast eaters anyhow-it would be more for the kids to see the characters like any other character meal we have gone to at disney. :confused3

Hi,
When we stayed Dora and the gang were all over the hotel. we did the breakfast and thought it was fine. But we weren't doing it for the food. Our kids have pictures from all ove rthe hotel and pool area with spongebob and the rest of them. But we went the first. of Dec. so the Hotel wasn't crowed. Sounds like a different hotel in the busy season.
But they are right we did where the green bracelets but it really wasn't a big deal.We just made them so they wouldn't come off. If you do lose it they were real nice and gave you another one.

It depends on when you are doing the breakfast. We stayed for 12 nights in May and did the breakfast once, on our last day. We noticed that is much slower during the early AM on the weekends and really anytime on the weekday mornings (though that will probably change in the summer), than it is on the weekends. It looked  after 8 AM on weekends. We had a great time, although the food less than delicious. Have fun!

I believe on the website it says the character breakfst is for guests only. We did have to wear the wrist bands the entire time we were there also.
