We've stayed in Casitas and Ranchos. For our first CSR stay, I requested Casitas, and I really thought it would be our favorite based on the theming and the location. I expected that it would be a quiet area since it had more of an adult look and feel, and I thought we'd be surrounded by convention-goers. I requested a room close to the quiet pool. Well, I got everything I requested - and we were really disappointed. The "quiet" pool was anything but quiet, full of noisy teens and pre-teens until late in the night. Now, I have 2 teens of my own, but they weren't out at the quiet pool making noise at night. We also heard a lot of noise from our neighbors, from people walking by and from people in the courtyard. Plus, the feel was a lot "colder" than I expected. And the location wasn't nearly as convenient as I expected - still quite a walk to everything.
We liked the overall resort though, so we decided to stay again in a different location. We requested Ranchos, hoping that it would be quieter and being fully prepared to be far from everything. Ranchos ended up exceeding all our expectations! Not only was our room extremely quiet (never heard another guest the whole week) it was not nearly as inconveniently located as we expected. We were very close to both a quiet pool and the Dig Site (which is awesome!). And while the main building was quite a trek, we actually enjoyed the early morning stroll to fill up our coffee mugs. Plus, the bus stop was much closer to our building than the one at Casitas had been. We even liked the theming of Ranchos much better once we actually saw it - it had a very warm and relaxing feel.
