What is the nicest resort on Disney property. It doesn't have to be a DVC property but On Disney proprty itself. I walked through Grand FLoridian and it was nice!

Just wondering if there is a better one that that because I see you can stay anywhere on Disney using points.

Dam*, this is a loaded question! Maybe the moderators should move this to the debate board now, before it gets out-of-hand:crazy:

Personally, I like Port Orleans (French Quarters), Poly, Boardwalk and Shades of Green.

Each of them is beautiful in it's own way. It depends on what themeing you are interested in. It differs from resort to resort. My favorite resort on Disney property is the Polynesian (if I could only choose 1)!

If I had to choose ONE only from each category (cheating I know) and keeping in mind "beautiful"

Value: All Stars Movies
Moderate: Port Orleans Riverside
Deluxe: Animal Kingdom Lodge
Home away from Home: Old Key West (even though we do not own there)

thanks

Nice is not very specific, but I think it has to be a deluxe resort and I really liked being on the monorail when we stayed at the Grand Floridian, Poly, and Contemporary before we joined DVC.
And that is the order that I would place them in for adults only. With kids, I would go in just the opposite order, but same three.
That's my opinion, what's yours?

The answer to this question is based soley on ones own personal opinions. As far as the resort I like best it is the Beach Club. We were Beach Club fans way before they built the Villas there and so buying there was a no brainer for us.

We were "wowed" by our stay at the Wilderness Lodge in 01.
This Oct we get to go "home" to a 1B at VWL - cant wait!

.... and stayed at seven of them. DW and I both agree that WL/VWL is our favorite. In a word, breathtaking, is all we can say.

I'm hoping it'll soon be Saratoga Springs! :sunny:

However, I think the Grand Floridian and Boardwalk Inn are right up there with Beach Club and Yacht Club just a nose behind!

For me POR is the most attractive landscaping wise. I'm biased because it's the only one I've stayed at so far, but I have visited most of the others. Although I've bought there I haven't actually seen OKW, :o but hopefully I'll think that's the nicest resort when I finally get there. ;)

Disney considers the Grand Floridian their Flagship resort and charges the most for it.

I vote for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Wilderness Lodge used to be our favorite until we saw the AKL...but I'm a theme-nut. For practicality, being within walking or monorail distance to your favorite park would add to the attraction of Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club or Grand Floridian/Polynesian.

To me the most beautiful has to be the Grand Floridian. I've stayed there twice - once on my honeymoon.

I also dearly love Boardwalk - it is our home and our favorite.

I can honestly say that I've found something wonderful in every resort we've stayed at and we've stayed at just about all of them.

Gee...that's a toughie...

<y favorite resort is the Poly. Big rooms, monorail access...but if I had to say which is the NICEST on property, I would have to agree with others and say the Grand Floridian. Beautiful hotel. Top notch all the way.

It may seem strange to say since we are discussing Disney, but has anyone else ever found the GF to be not so kid friendly? What I mean is very quiet, lots of things not to touch...?

That truely IS tough! I have to start by saying OKW is my all time favorite, and I love my "home away from home", but I think the "nicest " resort would have to be either Animal Kingdom Lodge Or Wilderness Lodge. I would definately choose AKL over WL for the guest rooms, but the lobby amenities and pool etc, give AKL the edge in my book.

Definitions of "Nice" (from Websters)

1) agreeable; pleasant; delightful (POR)

2) attractive; pretty (POLY)

3) courteous and considerate (GF)

4) conforming to approved social standards; respectable (WL)

5) in good taste (BWV - My Home Resort - I could easily put any of the DVC resorts here ;) )

6) good; excellent (AKL)

The joy of WDW resorts is that each is "nicest" in some way (although in some cases it's a more meaningful way to each individual). I, personally could not simply pick "nicest", as I like so many for such different reasons. In addition to the "definitions," here's a couple of thoughts:

GF is the most "refined" resort and offers the most service for the upscale traveler. That said, I would choose to stay at AKL or WL over GF, not because I do not like "upscale" travel, but because I believe AKL and WL are different than anything you'll find elsewhere...their unique and majestic nature make them "nicest."

Finally, there is nothing "nicer" than the joy of coming back to a 2 BR apartment at one of the DVC resorts...but that's opens up a whole different can of worms ;)

Given these thoughts, it would follow that VWL should win, but since I have yet to stay there, I cannot possibly make such an ultimate determination (and, besides, my fellow BWV owners might string me up! :) )

Here are some of my thoughts/opinions.

Nicest DVC resort: I find VWL to be the "nicest". I enjoy the theme and the peaceful surroundings.

Nicest non-DVC resort: YC. We stayed there last summer. The resort is very well maintained, SAB is amazing, and the location is terrific. We liked it even better than GF, which we found to be a little too pricey.

My all time favorite even though I've only visited and didn't stay there is the Grand Floridian. It's so classy and elegant.

I absolutely love WDW resorts and have stayed in almost every one many times, and I can honestly say I have yet to find one that was not "nice". All WDW resorts are beautifully manintained and themed and provide wonderful customer service to their guests.
I think there are WDW resorts that are more themed than others and display much more imagineer creativity than others. AKL and WL are perfect examples of this. There are also differences in the resort amenitites, location to parks, dining etc as you go up the various classes of resorts. The difference between the classes of WDW resorts is very evident in everything from the landscaping to rooms to location and resort amenities. However all the resorts, even the value resorts, are still nice.
WDW resorts vary greatly and for most people it is a matter of what appeals to you. What theming, location, resort amenities, landscaping etc., you desire. It is really all a matter of preferences and opinions.
For me...My absolute favorite WDW resort to stay at is BWV because I absolutely love the location and the amenities of this resort and it is my DVC home. However I also love YC/BC/BCV for the same reasons. WL/VWL, AKL and the Poly are also resorts I enjoy very much but do prefer the location of the Epcot resorts. In the moderate category my favorite is CSR because I love the theming and it offers more amenities than the other moderate resorts do like: in room coffee makers & a fitness center. From the value resorts I would pick ASMu because it tends to have more adults and less small children so it usually is more quiet and less congested.
Those are just my favorites though. I also enjoy staying at many other WDW resorts. And so far they have all been very nice!

Here's my pick:

VWL/WL - ah, what theming
BCV/BC - love that beach theme & location
Yacht Club - nice resort & location
Boardwalk/BWV - Nice and love the location
Port Orleans French Quarter - Nice & compact

The Grand Floridian is pretty, but every time I've been over there I've either witnessed a guest yelling at a Cast member or a wedding photographer being rude - we once came in the door at the Grand Floridian and were admiring the flowers at the entrance and a wedding photographer came up to us and told us to get out of his way, he was in a hurry. I'm glad my husband wasn't there when this man did this or he probably would of had some strong words with the man (the husband who is 6' 7" and not fond of "small" men who are rude/nasty to women and kids). WE have a standing joke in our family that the Grand Floridian hotel is the sure way to run into someone hateful. We always feel sorry for the cast members. They are usually the ones taking the abuse.
