Nice TS meal for last day?

Our trip is 8/26 - 9/1/09 and that last day, we won't have any park tickets left (got a 5-day PH). Our flight leaves around 5:30 p.m. and we are pondering using this last day to relax in the hotel and swim until check-out and then have a nice lunch before leaving for the airport.

So a few newbie questions:

1. Does DME assign you a specific time for pick-up to the airport? Is it a few hours in advance for your flight? I'm trying to figure out what time to make the lunch reservation for so we'll have enough time to eat but still get to the airport on time.

2. We have two girls - 8 & 6 - any suggestions on a nice place to eat - are there any characters lunches in any of the resorts? We want to have a nice final Disney experience that will leave some nice memories of the trip, hopefully without having them sobbing about leaving! (Wishful thinking, I know).

3. Can we take the DME from the resort we end up having lunch at rather than at our original resort (POP Century)?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Typically ME picks you up three hours before your departing flight so count on getting picked up around 2:30 from POP. As far as I know they only pick you up from your departing resort, not where you are having lunch. Perhaps do a late breakfast early lunch at 10:30 or so and then you can ride a couple things before your bus comes. Have fun!

A morning character breakfast might make more sense. How about something like Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare?

Frequent Pop visitor here...what about taking the bus to Hollywood Studios that morning and then walking or hopping a boat to Beach Club for Goofy's Character Breakfast at Cape May Cafe?? BEST breakfast buffet EVER and the characters are awesome. Then you can walk/boat back to the Studios and spend a few hours there or just go back to Pop.

I would do the latest breakfast seating at Cape May Cafe or Chef Mickey's. You will need to be back at Pop and ready to board the bus around 2:15.

Are you checking in your luggage and having it sent straight to the airport? Are you checking your carry-ons with Bell Services? If so, you need to make sure you have claimed everything before 2:15 so you need to leave lots of time to do that at Pop, as well as get back to Pop if you are using Disney transportation.

Not sure where you are staying and not sure where you have had TS during your stay but if you are wanting a character lunch at one of the hotels, you may try Cape May Cafe? They serve a character breakfast till 11am, very good and very cute. The characters are all dressed up in beach atire. It is at the Beach Club resort.

My family' last day tradition is going to Down Town Disney, eating at Wolf Gang Puck Express! YUM, YUM:love:We LOVE this place and then over to the Goofy candy company around the corner to make us some pretzel rods or a rice crispy treat dipped in all kinds of goodness to take home! This allows us to take home a little of the disney goodness. DTD has alot of fun things for the kids like lego land and the giant Disney toy store.

These are my thoughts and idea's without going back to a park.

Have fun:thumbsup2

I would do a late breakfast at the Kona Cafe for some good Tonga Toast :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the ideas! I really appreciate them.

Given the timing (with having to be back to POP no later than 2:00 p.m.), it looks like we will be checking our bags at POP and then I guess we'll leave our carry-ons at the Bell Desk and have a very late breakfast buffet at perhaps Cape May and let the girls have another character experience.

If lunch is served until 11:00 or so, if you get the last seating, are all the characters still there? Or do they rush you out the door once breakfast hours are over?

Thanks again!

We usually stay at the Beach Club, and we've gone to Cape May many times.
We like to go there our departing day as well; you and your girls will really enjoy it. Sometimes we go for a later breakfast; I believe they serve until about noon. I think the last reservation may be 11 or 11:30, but we've never felt rushed or anything. The characters are definitely still there; however, they may be there more at the beginning of the seating time rather than near the end. You should definitely have enough time to "visit" with them and take pictures. Good luck, and have lots of fun!!
