Nice room with Late, Late check-in

We are going to be staying in a jr. suite at the Dolphin from Dec 23-Jan3 and we won't be checking in until at least 11:30pm. My concern is we have a special needs son who really needs things to be pretty quiet to sleep. If he hears noises he won't sleep. I know that all hotels have noises but I was hoping to get a room far away from all the renovations (isnt everyone) I am concerned that because we have such a late check-in even if I mail them my preferences and explain the circumstances that becasue we are coming in so late they may "give away" our room and give us what is left at that late hour. Any ideas? We have stayed at the Dolphin on 2 other occasions and we love it and they are wonderful to us. I am hoping this is also the case with this trip.

one thing that you should do, is when you call or whatever you do to make the notes about needing to be far away from the sound, make sure to note that you will be coming in late, tell them around what time you will be coming in and they should note it on your res. that way they would be less likely to give away any room that they assigned you.

We were on a floor being renovated this summer at the Dolphin. The noise was bad in the afternoon, and I think I saw some workers on our last day around 10 a.m. I don't remember hearing any noise earlier in the morning and we were right by a room being renovated. The staff was very nice and offered to move our room for us, as DS napped in the afternoon. Hopefully you can get a room below the 6th floor that is already done and far from the noise.

From everything I have heard about the Dolphin they are VERY accomodating.

I think if you explain WHY you are making this request and maybe do what swilphil says - request a room below the 6th floor you should be O.K.

I would definately mention that you will be a late arrival.
