Nice hotel close to parks? We are Universal newbies.

We have never ventured off Disney property!!! The kids have persuaded Daddy to try Universal for a few days. Is there a nice clean hotel close to the parks( We will have a car) that we can stay at? We do not need anything fancy, just clean and preferable with large rooms (2 adults, 2 children 1 infant) . Also My son is handicapped so we would need a handicapped access room. The rooms for July onsite at Universal are running 260 and up...that is to steep for Dad, If we can;t find anything reasonable we will be staying at Disney and driving to Universal. I really dont want to do that because I am thinking if the baby gets cranky they can take me to the hotel and then go back to Universal if the hotel is close enough. Thanks

robvia's got links to some of the hotels near UO. but the parking situation is like trying to leave the MK and driving back to your resort. it's a pain in the butt, there's no shortcut, and it takes time. the parking decks are huge, and it can be a good 1/2 mile walk just to citywalk, but there are people-movers to help. unfortunately, if you're not onsite, it's not easy just to pop back to a hotel.

Thank you so much for the info. Hmmmmm we will have to re-think this. Is the "people mover" ok for a wheelchair?
