Given the possibility of a rain-out caused by the tropical storm aftermath we were delighted with a great day at Epcot today (8-31-2015).
The weather was perfect (for late August). A bit humid, but not terribly so, and overcast so it was not scorching hot.
The crowd was light, though the headliner rides still had long standby times.
Our strategy for Epcot was to FP+ Soarin, and standby Test Track at park opening. Unfortunately, after the long trip from Oregon it was a challenge to drag the family out of the Villa and we got to TT about 9:25... blech. Standby for TT was 30 min by then, and that wait was quite accurate. (My goal is no more than 15-20 mins in any line, but Test Track shuts down so often in our experience, that we wanted to do it early.)
Being way behind schedule, we got to Soarin a few mins before our FP+ window closed. (Standby was about an hour @ 10:15). Then went directly for a FP+ on spaceship earth. (Standby was only 20 mins at around 11am).
We had FP+ for Mission Space, but several in our party were not feeling like they wanted to risk the ride right before lunch so we did not use it.
Had a ADR for San Angel Inn at 11:40... went on the ride first and then we were seated immediately by the water. My family views the San Angel Inn as sort of a tradition, and I was pleasantly surprised by the food this time. It was much better than I recall. At Noon, the only tables with people were by the water, by 12:30 it was still not half full... what a difference going in late August makes!!
At that point we wandered around the World Showcase until 2:30 or so, and then everyone was tired so we decided to leave.
As expected, Test Track went down for repairs JUST as we were passing by... Standby was an hour or so. Man... if I stood in line for an hour only to be turned away at the end I would be pissed!
All in all, a great day given the hurricane scare over the weekend.
Tomorrow... Magic Kingdom!
