We are considering a quick weekend trip late next month when we go upstate with DS college visiting. Anyone have any suggestions for a nice hotel? Have looked around on the internet and they all pretty much look okay. Kids are 12 and 17. Thanks!

The Hilton by the Fallsview Casino is very nice. Usually reasonable, too. Walking distance to just about everything and it is connected to the Casino by a walkway just in case you would like to do any gambling after you get the kids back to the room at night;)

Thanks, I'll check it out. All the info on the internet I've found shows just about every hotel to be "in walking distance to everything" other than the falls, I'm not sure what "everything" is. Is the casino big? We're only planning one full day and two nights.

Embassy Suites. Check travelzoo because they have some good pkgs that include choice of dinner gift certificates (if not check their website)

We recently stayed at Sheraton on the Falls. Get a corner executive suite (not near as expensive as it sounds) above the sixth floor.

I did see a rate of $135.00 pernight at Sheraton on the Falls but it was a 'no view' room. I thought every hotel had a view even if it's a parking lot or a roof.

I can tell you to stay away from the Best Western at all costs. It was TERRIBLE!!! I thought I was saving money staying here but it just ruined my vacation. They couldn't pay me to stay there. We did walk around and look at places we would like to stay next time. I second the Embassy Suites. There is a nice restaurant in it and the rooms/suites are considerably larger than a standard hotel room. I love that as I travel with kids. The Sheraton also looked wonderful though. It really was a terrific place (Niagara Falls itself).

"No view" means no view of the falls.

The executive corner suites are wonderful: they are on the 'corner' of the Sheraton building and so there are not that many of them. Even from our bathroom we had a wonderful view of the Falls. Our room was a little low, so the trees partially obstructed the view, hence my advise to get above the sixth floor.

search Clifton Hill Niagara Falls tourist trap if I ever saw one, but alot of fun. Yes, the casino is a big one. The actually have 2 in Niagara.

Also, if you like wineries head up to Niagara on the Lake (about a 20 drive).

Embassy Suites! Free HUGE breakfast. And free happy hour! (One drink) but they brought in the tiger guy with his baby tigers one night! It was like a free show!

And if you go look for DINO! He was the best bellhop. Full of info and coupons. (and he's easy on the eyes:rolleyes1)

Niagra on the lake is worth the trip!imho

Actually in the case of the Sheraton on the Falls, no view really does mean no view. We stayed there this past June and had a traditional no view room. These rooms are similar to inside cabins on cruise ships, as they are on the interior of the hotel. While there were shutters where the window would be, the only thing on the other side of the "window" was a light to help keep the room lit. If you dig through the pictures on tripadvisor, there are a couple of pictures of the traditional rooms. I did know in advance what to expect, so I wasn't too surprised. We got a great rate of $83/night American by checking Expedia every day.

I would stay at the Sheraton again in a heartbeat. We loved the hotel and loved the location. You are close to plenty of entertainment in the evenings and lots of restaurants. The only thing that is a bit of a walk is Table Rock, but that was what the People Mover was for. If you can afford it, I would definitely spring for the fallsview. If not, the traditional rooms are very spacious.

Hope you have a great trip!

Jennifer

We stayed at the Comfort Inn at Clifton Hill last year and my kids loved it (7 and 5 at the time). It's right across from the Sky Wheel and the complimentary breakfast was very good. It was also very well priced.

We were there a few weeks ago and stayed at the Embassy Suites which was great. Beautiful view of the falls from our room. Huge free breakfast. Free nightly manager's reception which included snacks, soft drinks, and 2 alcoholic beverages. Location was great, we could easily walk to the attractions or to the people mover bus to get anywhere else. We would definitely stay here again.

We ended up booking at Sheraton on the Falls this morning, no view room. We're staying two nights so I don't mind no view from the room. Thanks to everyone for the help!:)
