No he wasn't in harms way. If he was still in the crease then yes it should have been blown down but he was not in the net and he was not trying to play.

But, if a player loses their lid, even if they’re on the opposite side of the ice they have to go right to the bench or risk a penalty. It was a blown call and we were lucky it didn’t cost us the game.

I've loved Blake Wheeler since I saw him play the first time in HS, I loved watching him play at the U of M, I even enjoyed watching him play in Boston and love the player and captain he has become in Winnipeg. But this is an insane level of toughness. He had a testicle ruptured by blocking a shot on 12/15, finished the game, then had it checked out. He returned to action last night.
