NHL 2022/2023 season thread

As a Flyers fan?
Sure, why not?

I must say I’m VERY disappointed in the Flyers so far this season. They were supposed to be 1-4, NOT 4-1. But then again last year they started 4-1-1 so there’s still plenty of time for them to crash.

Ooops. That’s Dallas (South) Stars at Arizona Coyotes. I had to go to experience the atmosphere of NHL hockey in a college arena.

It was a fun night. Plenty of Dallas fans there. I’d say it was 99% full by the beginning of the second period. Second level suites were only about 25% occupied.

Stars won 7-2.

I liked when there was a coyote howling sound played after the announcer stated who scored and assisted on Arizona’s goals.

The site of the proposed new Tempe arena is cleared. I hear it originally was a landfill. I believe Tempe officials are expected to vote whether to proceed later in November. Supposedly the city of Phoenix is challenging it and threatening lawsuits if approved.

Random people.

Bleacher benches behind one goal, just like a good college arena should.

Cheerleaders were everywhere before and during the game.

Howdy, Howler.
Does that look like a coyote??!!

Was it fun? I too would be curious to see an nhl game at such a small venue. It’s a shame that’s what’s happening there, but intriguing.

Penguins started off so good, but have just totally fallen apart. Their top defensemen all seem to be playing like absolute crap. Hope they wake up soon. Don’t know how they dominated at first now are getting dominated.

They’ve been cursed ever since they left. When there were rumours they may come back, we (many, many people in the city), used to watch every city hall meeting (online) to see what was being decided.

It’s sad to see what’s happened to them. Everyone but Bettman seems to know it’s a failed experiment and that they should be relocated. He’s too much of an egomaniac to admit defeat.

Yes, Phoenix should be a good AHL city at best. 26 or so years and the situation is still unsatisfactory. I have doubts about a new arena being built in Tempe. And if it is, will the area will truly support the team????

I'm jealous!! I saw the Coyotes in Glendale about 2008. Looks like a fun place to see a game.

Minnesota Wild at Anaheim Ducks last Wednesday night. Wild won 4-1.

There were plenty of no shows near us. These seats were unavailable when we bought our tickets online.

After I retire next year, I want a new career as a team mascot.

We tried to go to the LA Kings vs Chicago Blackhawks last Thursday night. The Kings use a different ticketing system than Ticketmaster and it was a hassle.

First it wanted us to install its app. Then it declined three separate credit cards when we tried to pay. “Ooops. There is a problem with your payment method. Please choose another card.”

All three of those cards were used successfully in other LA places. Maybe our issuers considered that ticketing app suspect or unreliable.

We tried SeatGeak but we had our eyes on a specific pair of seats and didn’t like what Seat Geek offered. So we just gave up.

No big deal. We were unsure about attending anyway and only decided that morning. We’ve seen the Kings several times in the past.

In other news, apparently the NBA Clippers are tired of sharing the Crypto.com Center (Staples Center) with the Kings and Lakers. A new arena is under construction in Inglewood, the Intuit Dome.

It’s about a mile away and on the same street as the new Rams/Chargers SoFi Stadium and the old Jack Kent Cooke’s Fabulous Forum, previous home of the Kings and Lakers.

Flyers lost 8th straight last night. Against Capitals.

I knew their good start to the season wouldn’t and couldn’t last.

Sabres fan here. They’re a very young team with good potential hopefully. They’re having a very split personality season so far. They’re either losing or winning by a lot. I can’t remember the last time we had a winning season. We have season’s tickets with other family. Already told them we’re probably out next year. Not sure how much more I can take. I’m getting too old for this crap.

Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the Dallas goal on Friday night? Should the whistle have been blown as soon as Hellebuyck lost his helmet?

No he wasn't in harms way. If he was still in the crease then yes it should have been blown down but he was not in the net and he was not trying to play.
