nextel phones

We will be in Disney World in a few weeks, and wondered if anyone has ever tried to use direct connect with their Nextel phones. Any info would be very much appreciated about cell towers, etc. Thanks!!!

We went to Disney in May and our Direct Connect did not work. We'd inquired about it before we left, and Nextel told us that since we didn't live in Florida, Direct Connect wouldn't work.

When we go on our trip to WDW in November we are going to RENT Nextel 2 way phones. The company that rents them is called AllRadio.net.

Maybe this can be an alternative for you.

Heard from a Nextel dealer the other day that Nextal is going national with their radio system some time early next year...

Thanks for the info...I knew it it would be too good to believe if Nextel actually worked in Florida, since we are from Indiana. Good idea on renting them!!Thanks again!

Nextel is going to begin Nationwide Direct Connect rollout in the next few weeks, starting with New York and Boston. They expect to have complete implementation of coast to coast service available by mid-2003.
